  1. For sale is a nice pair of spinning reels. These reels hold 410/10 or 180/20 line. I have used them for the past few years trolling for browns in the spring and had them loaded with 10lb line. I'm selling only because I prefer level wind reels. Asking $60 for the pair or trade towards a pair of level winds with counters that I could use for wire dipsey setups. 315 573 1373 for questions or just pm me with an offer.
  2. Perch are plentiful in Sodus Bay If you get into small ones , move to shallower water. They are getting ready to spawn or have already started. Look in water as shallow as 2 to 3 ft around weeds.
  3. Be careful with the extra pole for checking speed. DEC won't like pole #7 with 2 guys!
  4. Make sure that mast is 5' and not 2 masts that are 2.5 ft.... just sayin

Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s):3-14-2012 Time on Water:2:30 - 5:00 Weather/Temp:50 Wind Speed/Direction:west 5-10 Waves: 1ft or less Surface Temp: mid 40s Location:west of Sodus channel LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 2 Total Boated:2 Species Breakdown:browns Hot Lure: Trolling Speed: 2.1 Down Speed: Boat Depth: 5 - 10 ft Lure Depth: planner boards ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS Beautiful day to make a first trip with my rebuilt Starcraft. Water was Gin clear most of the day. We found a small patch of colored water just west of the trailer park and hit 1 brown out of it. Then back to clear water except the runout of Maxwell which was stained brown. Hit the second fish off the point west of Maxwell and called it a day. ====================
  6. Check this link for a trailer. I don't know the weight rating on it but you can have it free if you want it. viewtopic.php?f=10&t=29907
  7. Official forecast direct from a person that lives in Sodus Point: Wind 0- 25 mph SE,S,SW,W,NW,N,NE,E Waves will be 0-10ft
  8. Alot of times when they predict 2 to 4 ft seas with a S or SW wind you will see smaller seas close to shore and it gets bigger as you go out from shore. Most fishing at this time of year is within a few hundred yards of the beach so I would guess you can get out. If the wind comes around to more westerly direction it can get bumpy in a hurry. I plan for a first trip with my newly renovated boat this Sunday.
  9. SO how big an area is restricted? Years ago we used to fish that area every spring with similar results.
  10. I have a 17' 1982 Larson boat that is in very rough shape sitting on a 1960 Holsclaw dual axle trailer that could be used with a little work. The trailer would need new tires and some paint but it looks like the frame is solid. I bought this for the motor that was on the boat which was the the only thing I needed from the package. Please come and take it away! I have a registration for both boat and trailer. It's in Sodus Point and free to the first person that comes and hauls it away. Contact Steve 315 573 1373 if you want it.
  11. I would buy both if they are still available. Looks like i'm 3rd in line.
  12. Had a few visitors this afternoon.
  13. Went by the ramp this morning and saw a couple boats headed west along the shore. Didn't see any ice that would cause problems and the lake was still rolling 1 to 2 ft. Maybe we'll get a report from the guys that got out there later today. Sure hope they had the long johns on today! 36 degrees at 8:55
  14. I looked at the Coast Guard ramp this morning. There was some loose ice right at the ramp them open water all the way out the channel. I didn't see much of a mud line along the shore but the sun reflection was making it difficult to see. 1 to 2 ft rollers at 7:00am.
  15. Thursday morning, I didn't see any floating ice today and the lake was flat at 7:30. Light rain had just started when I was at the lake.
  16. Looks like you had a great day even if it was cold. I was wondering about the wind and waves but I guess you were able to handle them. Keep safe and thanks for the report. I'm headed for North Carolina for the weekend and hope to get out next week if the weather allows.
  17. Thanks for the local support, there are some good people here in town. I may as well take this time to put in a plug for my local business. If any of you guys are golfers, bring your clubs along and take advantage of a great golf course on those windy days when ya can't get on the lake. Our course is open to the public on most days and we would sure like to have some new faces around here. Just call the pro shop for a tee time and they will do their best to get you out on the course. http://www.sodusbayheights.com/
  18. At 8:00Am there was one boat making the turn west out of the channel and another boat getting ready to head out. There was much less floating ice around today and it looked fishable. I stopped at the Old Light House on the hill and could still see some pieces of ice out there, I wouldn't run up on plane for very far but trolling should be OK a long as you had a spotter in the bow! Good luck to the guys that headed out, maybe we'll get a report from them later today.
  19. This buildup happened with the lake effect snow we got this weekend. Strong north wind and over a foot of snow! Sun and warmer should clear it out fairly soon. Email any time for a quick report.
  20. Here are a few pictures from Sodus Point. As you can see there is a small snowbank at the ramp and quite a bit of ice buildup along the shore in the lake. There is a defined line of colored water that goes out a few hundred yards from shore. There is also quite a bit of ice floating in that area. If we get a south wind most of that would clear out pretty quickly. If you go out beware of the wind changing and coming onshore, I have seen the channel fill in within a few hours and you can end up stuck in the lake with no way to get back to the ramp. If anyone wants a report on the ramp this week you can email me and I can go see what things look like within a few minutes. I work at the golf club on the hill as you come into sodus point. 21. I have a 1977 140HP Johnson outboard for sale. This motor does not have a tilt and trim unit. It was run in Early December with no issues and then I replaced it with a 140HP Evinrude with tilt and trim. The motor has fresh paint and new decals on the cover and looks pretty good for a 35 year old motor. I used the controls and cables for the Evinrude so they are NOT included with this sale. I would like to sell or cash and trade for a nice kicker motor, ( 20hp or less). Please contact Steve if you have any reasonable offers. I will not respond to "is it still available" emails. cell number is 315 - five seven three - 1373 http://rochester.craigslist.org/boa/2840813135.html
  22. I just looked at the ramp at the Coast Guard Station in Sodus Point. There is a small amount of loose ice around the dock. The bay is open all the way over to the end of the point and the channel is clear of ice today. I didn't see any ice along the shore of the lake so you could easily troll the shallow water.
