  1. Creek I referred to is densmore creek [ Post made via iPhone ]
  2. Saw many salmon/trout jumping and flopping around in the bay this morning. They were near the opening of the small creek on the west side, south of bridge. I could hear em splashing from my house and went out to look and could easily see them from 200 yards away. Unfortunately had no way to get out to them and gotta run to work. [ Post made via iPhone ]
  3. nice. think ill go back to my usual spot, webster park this weekend. have had zero luck at outlet. my feeling about the place is that the trout/salmon dont chill out there for long.. they keep going though the bay and towards I-creek, so its hit or miss at the opening of the bay. The fish seem to hang out at webster park alot longer before going up the creek in my experience especially if the creek is shallow, though i havent been to the park yet to see if you see any though, please post since i only live minutes from the outlet i can get there easier
  4. Tried Summerville pier after outlet yesterday and saw 1 fish jumping waves way off the end. No bites on eggs spoons or rapalas. Someone told me they saw 3 kings caught on the Charlotte side earlier. [ Post made via iPhone ]
  5. tried again today around noon but from a boat casting around the outlet and piers. saw only a few fish surface. tried silver or gold shallow husky jerks and cleos. no hits at some point they will bite. i did well off piers last fall with cleos and rapalas but it was later in september and october. i dont have any eggs or skein unfortunately. those that use em usually outfish me by quite a bit
  6. i was on the very end too. there were indeed alot of weeds. i continued to cast until i found some clear weedless paths to pull my lures through, but it was difficult. i may try again tomorrow, but really, if it werent for those weeds i probably would have stood there all day casting. i found it interesting that there were spots where you could clearly see 3 or 4 or more browns, grouped together and behaving as if they were feeding on surface bait fish...repeated splashing and circling at the surface like saltwater fish. when i saw this, i placed my lure right on em or near enough....but no bites. i have never seen this which made standing on those rocks in the rain worth the effort.
  7. was on the west pier by the light house at 5:30am - 8. I have never seen so many fish. In all directions the entire time, there were whole schools of fish jumping, porpoising, splashing tails..saw big browns and kings. fish were from just a few feet off the rocks to as far as my eyes could see, including right inside the channel unfortunately i got not even a single hit. casted every spoon and rapala i had at them. easily dropped my lure right on their heads and nothing at all. not sure why as they appeared to be feeding and there were a ton of sea gulls diving. oh well. it was fun just seeing so many
  8. I'm catching em way into the bay. My guess is they are eating goby off the bottom, along the shore where they can see better. I release all fish so I'm just guessing. If someone would cut one open then we would know for sure I think. Last spring I got a walleye while trout fishing in lake Ontario that I suspect would have been close or better than the state record. I posted a pic of it in the trout/salmon section. 9. walleyes still biting fairly consistently, though had a few fishless nights this week. here is the best one of the night..pretty big and heavy. im always amazed at how strong and tough the big ones are. was in 4 feet of water and caught on my usual x-rap at 9pm
  10. got 2 walleye tonight around 9:45 and 1 large pike that broke off at the net (10 lb braid!). walleye are a bit smaller than any i got last summer but good fighters. biting on orange x-raps here is one from tonight yea its higgins
  11. i was thinking sutters and the area around it. i catch my walleye on the west side, just north of bay village. ive never tried anywhere else on the bay so i dont know if they bite everywhere.
  12. got another tonight at 9pm. small one. so i guess they are back, though tough to catch this year compared to last. was in about 3 feet of water
  13. finally got two tonight about 9:30 in 4 feet of water or less on a small red fire tiger shad rap. both back to back casts and then nothing....all the splashing seems to scare em off for a while
  14. an alligator, thats exactly what they look like when they do this.
  15. saw a pike in I-Bay near shore today swimming with half its body out of the water. it was swimming very slow and did this for about 30 feet...looked like a big snake.
  16. last year i saw pike in I bay doing this around our dock at night, at least 3 times. they seemed oblivious to me standing a few feet away at most
  17. update: have not caught any walleye. not catching much of anything. fishing sucks compared to last year at this time. water too hot perhaps. anyone else catching walleye in i bay?
  18. just noticed you said your boat is docked on I bay I would therefore suggest that you skip taking the boat out and simply try my technique off shore at the marina (i presume) first..... and one more thing..i noticed that my hookups were more consistent when i slowed my retrieve down as slow as possible to the point that the lure is going only just fast enough so that the lure's action comes alive. twitching, jerking, pausing etc....didnt seem to work. just an extremely slow yet steady retrieve made them wack them hard
  19. I fish for walleye every night in Ibay. Here is what i can tell you: i got my first walleye in Ibay last year on July 19 at 9:15pm. I thereafter got 1 to 2 per night through the end of august, starting at 9:15 pm. By labor day, they were gone and did not return to the shallows All of them were quite large, heavy fish. All of them were caught in 5 foot of water or less along the shoreline where i live on the Bay, off the dock or back yard All were caught on Shadraps(fire tiger) or Xraps (especially red/orange). My friends who use mister twister type plastics got some too. Seems they will grab almost anything Every night they turned on like clock work and were especially aggressive on nights when there was a full moon. A slight chop did not seem to be needed. I got em when it was still and like glass as well as when it was choppy There seemed to be a predictable window of opportunity to catch them that lasted about 2 hours max. I may have caught 1 after midnight despite trying every single night Could this be done by boat? i suppose you can if your willing to stay out after dark and anchor near shore. I would love to understand what is happening but i suspect that large schools of walleye come in shallow and cruise the shoreline to feed on goby and other small fish that are more visible in shallow water, especially if there are dock lights like i have I did have better luck with the dock lights turned on I never caught a single walleye off the end of the dock where the water is 10 plus feet. I caught many of them in 1 foot of water believe it or not I am on the Irondequoit side off bayshore blvd. I have no idea if others have consistent luck elsewhere on the bay but i did Many evenings, I saw boats sitting out in the middle of the bay apparently fishing for walleye. Most boats would have the occasional flurry of activity with flashlights and lanterns lit suddenly and people moving about...i assume they were catching walleye like me but out in 30-50 feet of water? I have not tried fishing for them by boat in deeper water I tried many times to catch them in the early pre-dawm morning. Nothing. for me, it was night only between 9 and 11pm good luck here's one of my typical eyes
  20. i was out around noon for an hour or so around the ibay outlet and east...not even a bite. saw nothing on the screen. very dirty water today
  21. got one nice brown at about 6:30am, 1/2 miles east of I-bay outlet on a goby pattern x-rap, 10 feet of water. 3 hours more of nothing at all, all the way to hedges and back...
  22. whats important is what the fish looks like, not me. thats how i see it anyway. i like my privacy more as the years go by
  23. i catch the walleyes in Ibay in the summer at night along the shoreline in about 3 feet of water...like clockwork, as soon as the sun goes down they bite...very big ones. actually never caught a small one....bass on the other hand...usually small.
