  1. Haha thats the weirdest looking striper iv seen  but thanks guys i knew it was one of the two. They made for a good day and you aren't kdding they fight like smallies and especially when they get in the current they really make it pretty interesting.

  2. I ended up catching 3 of these in 5 casts and also lost one. I know they have got to be either a white bass or a white perch and i caught them on the upper niagara not out of ontario if that helps at all. I was hoping someone could give me a hand with what these are. Thanks in advanced :beer:

  3. Nice looking bass! Looks like ya got them dialed in pretty good! but I took the kayak out yesterday hit up somewhere around 25 with a couple 3 pounders and a decent sized pike. most were on flukes and the bigger ones on jigs with some flapper trailers.

  4. So im not the only one haha. I went 3 days last week for a couple hours at a nearby pond and went 15, 13, and 9 numbers wise for maybe 2 hours or so on largemouths. Caught em all on weight less flukes and jerkbaits. Loads of fun on light line and constant action. They all were around 12 or 14 inchers with the biggest being about 2 pounds.

  5. Dont feel bad....iv seen 2 deer this season and both of em i ended up dragging out for my dad but the neighboring farm managed to get 25 nuisance permits this past summer so its been tough ALL season....trying it saturday and sunday as a last ditch effort! just keep at it and they ll show up!

  6. My grandparents used to rent a cottage on lake alice idk how many years ago. so we would always leave a pole rigged with corn and catch carp throughout the day....one day my cousin forgot to leave the bail open and off the pole goes out into the lake by some big carp....2 days later my grandpas bottom fishin worms and he hooks into a big stick and sure enough up comes my cousins pole...sure miss the old days....my bad just reread the original post and saw it was this year so i guess i can say i was fishin at a town park near my house throwin a spinner bait and it gets blasted by somethin so i toss it out real quick in the same spot and about a 3 foot pike completely demolishes it and what a suprise that was

  7. The tables have been turned on the gobies. They are now a main food source for bass and brown trout. The bass and also the browns are growing faster and bigger because of it.

Just a thought, iv used soft goby swimbaits for bass the past couple years and they nail em left and right but i was wondering if the browns would hit em the same either trolling or casting of the piers in the spring time?

  8. Hey at least you guys got out this weekend! Iv been dying to go since last december and all i could do was sit and wait for any break in the rain. The wind i can deal with but i dont wanna lose a deer just because its raining out...Oh well dont get good around here ti halloween anyways then its game on!!!! Good luck to everyone this year!!!!!

  9. When you look at these pictures, you quickly realize that NYS has the potential to be in the upper tier of states in the U.S. We have the habitat and significant agriculture to grow some real monsters, but also to grow bucks of consistent quality.

I think the only thing that we are lacking is an overall strategy to cultivate the great resource that we have.. I am not sure if the DEC doesn't have the resources to give this the attention it needs or if people are fearful of making some radical changes...

In my opinion, all you need to do is look at what has been done in other states like Ohio, Illinois, etc... When you look at the increaed land values (tax base), revenues from travel and out of state liscencses, etc.. You would think it would be a win, win for the hunters, states and DEC...

I just don't get why status qou seems to be the acceptable answer????

Im about 30 minutes northeast of buffalo and the town just pushed through a 150 lot subdivision in big plot of woods, i knew dozens of people that hunted that land forever and there were always big bucks hanging out in there but now everyone that moves in there will be complaning about all the deer eating their bushes and gardens and will have no clue why...i mean yea it will hopefully push some deer my way but for the fact of taking out 200 acres of land i think is a bit excessive so i hear ya that people dont understand the strategy but they all think about the money

  10. Well theres quite a few parks with some small ponds around the north campus if thats where he is and for some reason i wanna say there is a pond on one of the ub campuses or theres all kinds of spots along the upper niagara river but that may be a little tough for fly fishing with the current and wind....thats all depending on his mode of transportation.....hope that helps out a bit

  11. The rod holder is gonna be the next addtion definately but i wasn't concerned about storage for tackle....im mostly a soft plastics guy for bass so a 2 piece spinning rod,2 small plano boxes that fit in my vest and a couple bags of worms and flukes and im good to go  .....thanks for the info again

  12. Wel thanks for everyones opinion and info on all that but i ended up getting a sit on top future beach from dicks...i had to rethink my budget and how much time in gonnna have for the time bein....but iv taken it out twice, fishing once and its an absolute blast, its got plenty of stability for me, and enough room for a couple poles and a couple plastic boxes so im plenty happy with my purchase. Thanks again everyone

  13. Nice pictures  ....been watching a 8 thats a border line shooter and a similar 6 and sure hope the monster (170 class 10 at 4 years old) that was around last year is still around....just starting to get out to do some scouting and put the finishing touches on the food plots...Cant wait!
