  1. Thanks for all of that, im not sure about the sit in or the sit on....im kinda leaning towards the sit on and im about 6 foot and right around 200 pounds soaking wet. Im not really concerned about the speed of one just more so the stability part for now.

  2. So iv been looking into getting a kayak for mostly bass fishing. I would like to go to some tribs, local ponds and some inland lakes mostly....so i was wondering what some of the experienced guys would reccomend for starting out....i dont wanna spend an arm and a leg but wouldnt mind spending up to $500.....any info appreciated :beer:

  3. Had some time after a family dinner so headed to a local pond to tryout and figure out the new steelhead rod....ended up with 7 bass all over 12" and hooked into a carp that ran me into a tree before i could turn it. The bass seem to love the 4 inch bungee worm with no weight on a #2 hook. :)

    Biggest which was maybe 17 incher since the handle on my pole is 21.

  4. I live right on the canal in Lockport, but I don't usually fish there because I don't know where to go. Where abouts did you catch this?

    Anywhere theres rocks on the sides just cast along parallel with the bank with little jigs or little jointed crankbaits and work em back towards you.....thats just what iv had the best luck with.

    We were in Lockport this weekend visiting family and we crossed the canal several times the last few days and I kept thinking "now, if I had my little boat I would love to work that piece of water". Good for you for getting into those bronzebacks!
    You could put some serious hurt on them with a boat :D but just bring the pole with ya next time :yes:

    ==================

    I probably should of done this a couple months when i joined, but anyways I just recently got into fishing a lot more seriously as of the past couple months always have fished and hunted and everything else outdoors thanks to my dad and brother, i dont have a boat of my own so im stuck on shore for the time being...i make the best of it, fishing the tribs from fall to spring for trout and salmon, then switching over to bass, pike, perch or whatever else is biting at the time of the year...im not new to fishing but im learining something every time i go from either experience or talking to others or from on here....Hope to learn more and share more with others on here.

    Thanks, John

  6. Spent the afternoon at the erie canal today near lockport had to break in the new camera and see how it works....ended up with 9 smallmouths all when the sun was behind the clouds and one rock bass. biggest was about 15 inches and three others were over the limit. I let em all go back for someone else to catch.

  8. Thanks guys but im really putting the stress on that reel i caught a 7 pound sheepshead smallmouth fishing in lake erie last weekend, a couple steelhead and some big browns back in the winter and spring, and i cant even count the bass haha ;) but hey it just makes it all that more fun right?

  9. Had a nice surprise when this northern took my Mr. Twister on a 1/8 oz jig head on 6 lb Stren. First one of the year off the pier for me. Just a guess im assuming its about a 3 footer or so. I didnt have a tape or a scale or a camera (just a cell phone camera) or a net. Luckily there was a guy with a net up there too

  10. So iv been seein posts on here about the walleyes in the erie canal and i was wondering about where they are in the west end of the canal? I mainly fish it around lockport and only form shore as i dont have a boat yet. I ve been catching plenty of smallmouths so far but thats about it. So i was wondering the time of day, a general area and what to use for some eyes? Any help very much appreciated :beer:

  11. Wow thats a real nice one! :yes: They are a ton of fun to catch especially the bigger ones like that. I usually fish a park near my place for em on a summer nights, cheapest canned corn for 39 cents a can...bait up a number 4 hook on 8 pound test, chum a couple times and let em fly. Cant wait for it!
