  1. Wrights landing will be open if you want to fight with about 200,000 people there. Your call Im getting the hell outta there
  2. Hey Peeps looks like the weather wont be blowing to bad Saturday Morning. I've got two boats making the short trip to lake O from 'Cuse. I really don't want to fight the Harborfest crowd at OZ where we usually go out of plus the Kings there have been scattered the last couple of weeks. Should we haul to Fairhaven or Mexico. My thought is to try fairhaven because the Kings we have been catching have been in deep water 200 - 400 feet. We would have to run quite a ways to get that deep out of Mexico but I have never put in at Fairhaven. Any advice woud be great got some out of towners coming up from the Carolinas and would love to get them on some fish.
  3. Just outside the top 10. 10th place was the last to pay out and they had 58 pounds. I think the winner had about 72 pounds.
  4. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name:Brian/The Betty Jean ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s):7/13/2012 Time on Water:500-1400 (9 hours) Weather/Temp:Sunny & Hot Wind Speed/Direction:Almost none slight breeze out of the south Waves: nope Surface Temp:76 Location:OZ LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 8 Total Boated:5 Species Breakdown:All Kings Hot Lure: White Spinny/Mirage Fly Trolling Speed:2.5-2.7 Down Speed:Battery died on Probe Boat Depth: 250-400 Lure Depth: 60-150 ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== First of all a Big Thank You!!! to Fat Nancy's for doing the work it takes to have their "Pre-Fish Friday Shoutout" It is an event that we look forward to every year, having done our first last year (which was crazy because last year it was probably our 3rd time out Salmon Fishing on our own boat). My group consits of the quintesential weekend warrior. The ProAm is obviously the big event for this weekend, however I think that there are a lot of people like us who dream of fishing the pro-am but realisticly think that we might as well take the expensive buy-in and throw that much money right overboard. This "shootout" that Nancy's has done is a perfect low cost one day tourny that my crew looks forward to taking a day off work for. With the timing of the tourney I am pretty sure that some of those Pro's are fishing that tournament so we feel we can really guage how we're coming along. Last year this tournament was a six fish box and this year they changed that to three. That would be an insignificant change to us since we only caught 3 last year and 2 of those combined weighed 10 pounds. Needless to say we didn't fair to well. This year was a bit different this year our lines hit the water at 5:30 and by 6:15 we had more weight in King Salmon on our boat than we did all of last years tourney!!! That means we landed one pretty nice fish almost 27#. We ultimately picked up 4 more fish and weighed in a respectable box. The fishing was kind of slow just really a steady Pick. We lost a couple that would have improved our score but in the end we weighed a 26#, 19#, and 10#. For a box of 55#. So not bad all in all. Fishing was tough like I said, our probe had a dead battery and we had no replacement so we gave ourselves a wide spread depths and presentations. It seemed that our rigger with a long lead to a white/greendot spinny w/ a Mirage Fly was the best it caught two of the Fish we weighed in. (The Biggest Two) Anyway here are a couple of pics. Big Thanks again to Fat Nancy's
  5. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name:Betty Jean ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s):7/3/12 Time on Water:600-1200 Weather/Temp:clear/hot Wind Speed/Direction:none Waves: glass Surface Temp: 70...Found 45-55 deg. btwn 100-140 ft. was over 60 deg until 95 ft Location:OZ LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 14 Total Boated:10 Species Breakdown:1 Brown 9 Kings Hot Lure: FF Greens and whites better than Chrome today. Flies anything Green Green/Blue Trolling Speed:2.6 SOG Down Speed: 2.0-2.2 Boat Depth: 275-325 Lure Depth: 120-150 ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== Well it turned out to be a Dandy in O-Town today!!! Started off a little shaky which is not abnormal came right out and dropped our starboard side dipsy down with port side setting so it wasn't long before we had to break out the scissors and straighten out that mess. Once we finally got our spread sert up the right way we got into a little bit of action mostly 600 coppers. But after having 5 rods firing and only managing to land one brown we were getting discourged. The Brown was released and did manage to swim away for another early spring encounter next year. by that time it ought to be a goody. We did notice though that our Coppers were getting most of the action and we had our set spread out between 60 and 120 feet so we re-stategized and decided to go deep with everything Our 600 Coppers became our shallowest run lines and we had one rigger down at 150 ft. GAME ON!!!! Things went crazy. And by things I mean EVERYTHING: Coppers, Dippys, Riggers, everything. At one point all 3 of us on board were fighting Kings and the boat was just doin its thing. Thank Goodness it was Glass. I'm sure eveyone here knows how sideways that program can get in a hurry!!! Well we managed to successfully net all three of those fish and when we were getting the last hook out of the last fishes mouth we all looked up to the sight of one of our rigger rods just kissing the surface...Holy smokes we almost had quads!!! After starting the morning 1 for 5 we managed to not drop another fish. In about two and a half or three hours the three of us had our limit of Kings in the box and we were heading in to get out of the sun. What a day!!! We have only been fishing Lake O for a year and a half and today we managed to do two Firsts for the Betty Jean. First Tripple and first time having everyone on board limit out. I bet if we had a fourth on board in another hour or so we would have limited them out too. One of our best days yet.
  6. I don't think it had been lodged in his throat for long. Both the Northern and the Drum were pretty fresh. Not much decomposition on either of them. It was strange looking for sure. I would agree that if the body was proportional to the head it probably would have weighed close to 17 or 18lbs. it wasn't quite 40" and I usually use 40" as the benchmark for a 20# Pike. I know this is a Lake O forum but the Walleye fishing on Oneida has been bonkers so far. But its back to the big lake Saturday for the BT Derby out of Mexico.
  7. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name:Betty Jean ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s):5/13/12 Time on Water:6:00-12:00 Weather/Temp:Calm/Sunny Wind Speed/Direction: Waves:None Surface Temp: Location:Oneida Lake LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 4 Total Boated:4 Species Breakdown:2 walley 2 pike Hot Lure: Trolling Speed: Down Speed: Boat Depth: Lure Depth: ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== Hey all, I couldn't catch in anything in Oswego this weekend. We fished 14 hours Friday and Satuday and we only caught 1 King and 1 Steelie. So Sunday morning my cousin and I went to Oneida Lake for some Walleye and saw this freaky thing. I hope these pictures post the right way. I've seen pictures like these on the internet but never in real life. This was about a 37" Pike that had a 24" sheepshead in it. It probably happened last night. We saw it floating as we were jigging for Walleye and had to check it out. It ate itself to death!!! For a fish that lng it was remarkably skinny doen by its tail. Must have been dyin for a meal...haha.
  8. My old man has a 15' Dicovery Fishing boat that has a 28HP evinrude 2 stroke. It scoots the boat around pretty good with one or 2 guys and little gear but when you get that third guy on board it really gets bogged down. I'd like to get him a 35 or 40 HP, preferably 4 stroke, used motor for a Fathers Day gift. He mentioned that he wants a new motor for the boat so he may be open to selling his 28HP.....it does run great, any thoughts would help.
  9. Our Team would be the first in line to register for an AM only tourny!!! We fish out of a 20' boat and are the epitomy of weekend warriors. Having just gotten into Salmon fishing last year we dont have the gear or the vessel to compete in the PRO/AM, our, what was it $850, entry fee would be nothing more than a donation to those bigger more experienced anglers. An AM only tournament would at least let us be competitive and if it were $300-$400 bucks for registration, I would register right now. I would love to help facilitate this idea in any way that I can. Our team is from Syracuse and would probably only fish out of Oswego. So if someone is trying to organize one of these for the Oswego area pm me and I will do whatever I can to help. Keep your hooks sharp and your lines tight!!!! TEAM BETTY JEAN!!!!
