    ====================

hit the grand slam with fish from 10lb brownie to the 24lb king. it took all day but we got em all, to include 2 drum on a light house. first drum hit the rigger 110 over 155 on the slider. 5 min later #2 same rigg, both over 10lb. we where just talking about the last time we had seen one not an hr befor. very messed up to say the least. other than that nothing more to really tell. green dot sd's ( crome, white, and black) with flys took everything but the drum's. 4 wires and 2 riggers covered every thing from 75 to 140.

    tight lines all

  2. what does anyone think of doing a fundraiser. nothing big! im talking to a company now where it might be able to be done right on the computer. the idea is to send out an email to everyone that you know with the link and they could order right from there house and have it delivered to there door. payment and everything is done by them.

my girl friend has worked stevco for many years now with the youth football in ontario ny and has had nothing but a great dealing with them. there link is http://www.enjoyfundraising.com/

granted their is lots of talk about school sports teams when there name comes up, but i think we could make enough money to put vets in rooms for the night down at the point and rent the ball park for parking/ picnic. this would free up any donated money so it may be used for smaller things like tents, tables, chairs, food, and so on

just an idea. i would love to hear what people think, heck there is probly a better way to go about this but who knows

    tight lines to you

    john

  3. ok guys i tried to make a facebook page for us ...

    http://www.facebook.com/?ref=tn_tnmn#!/ ... lingWaters

please pass this around and please add your photos

if theres any problems with the site plz let me know. we have started this page to help get the word out to posibal donaters and to help promot next year. the better we get the salmon slam word out the bigger the party can be next year.

i will admit im no computer geek and will take any help i can get

thanks guys and tight lines to you all

  4. im not really not sure what to say... thank you all for the great day of meeting new people, fishing with outstanding people, great food, and just a great time had by all. its funny ,ed our vet, said to me today " you guys must have been planning this out for hat a year???" you should have looked at his face when i told him that it has only been about 2 months from the time nick put it out there about fishing with vets until today. blown away is all i can say. his mind and mine. after seeing the day turn out with or with out fish and so many bright faces!!!!

there where a few vet faces that i knew from gathering before and after talking to them at the the close of the day i was told that some of them really found peace out there, something that some have not had in years, hooking up was just a bonus!!!

nick and Theresa what a day!!!! show me where to sign up for next year and tell me where i can help. i need me about 30 different salmon slam tee's and spoons, 1 each for the next 30 years. we got what a year to make the next one just as good , heck better. either way this was the first and no matter what anyone does you cant replace it. and you cant replace the way the members of team dipsy ranger today.

a few words to everyone from our vet ed from 1st cav and now recently retired veterans administration doctor....you guys really know how to put a smile on a man face even after seeing what war can show you. the time i spent today here has helped me heal wounds not shown by scars. please keep my up to date with next year and how i may help make this happen!!!!!!!

these words are all the thanks that i could receive without crying.

in closeing for all that where involved with helping put this on a huge pat on the back to all of you, lets keep this going

  5. agin i'm new to all of this so please bear with me.. but why is there not a rep to discuses matters like this here. i would think it would have to be a must for the pro/am. where better than here on the lou site. sure there might be what maybe 2 other sites that talk about fishing in the great lake's as a hole . i know of 1 other that i glance at here and there but it doesn't come close to all the info that can be given and received about fishing lake ontario as a hole. if it happens on lake ontario you are sure to hear about it on here. why not have someone on the committee as a liaison. and i'm not saying 1 person that could change every year i mean set up a name i.e. pro/am rep. that way if someone like me had a question about the pro/am i could ask the rep and i could get an answer and know it to be true because the rep whom ever they may be would answer it. on the other side seeing this i.e. pro/am rep. in a thread like this would tell every one that the committee is without a question is hearing our voice about the biggest thing going on out there on the lake.

again this is a question from some one trying to learn so ...

  6. i have been looking for more room as well and have seen boats all over the place from $2500 and up. heck i just looked at a boat i think was on here that had 10 rods, riggers, like 90 spoons, flashers, files, dipsy's fish finder and depth probe, for like $5k. my problem is i have that plus so its really not needed. is it that the boat is not really in good shape or is a good boat that hard to unload. i m not trying to offend anyone by any means but as i drive around here near home im seeing striped boats for $10k. what gives??? are the few that i have looked at just owened by people with high hopes getting greaty thinking they might get to take someone for a ride.

some advice from others ould be great to hear

  7. amen to that. as a recently medically retired veteran from OIF, having had the opportunity to benefit from project healing waters a few years ago, this means so much more to me than one could think. it is a great joy to read each day how much people truly want to help and care. my dad was giving me a tong lashing the other day because i wasn't going to be one of the "vets". i told him i get the bonus package because not only do i get to take someone out and show them how the fishing has helped to get my head on straight but i also get to meet fellow brothers with similar experiences. what an honor it is going to be to fish next to you all. thank you all

  8. this is the first year that i have been apart of the pro/am's / open, and 1 of my team members did one a few years back but as a mate and really just fished. i have been watching this thread since it started trying to learn all that i can as to be better prepared and im not really sure what's going on about the com thing. we( our team) have the radio in the boat but never use it unless its to bust on our brothers (in real life) other than that is just there. i thought the hole point of the pro am was to take your team/boat and work your program. why the heck do i want to tell anyone where i am and what im doing when there's money out on the line. i have never put any faith into what people are saying on there because lets face it if your fishing your lying. not to mention that my 9 year old can sit in my boat in marion wile its in the barn and hear many people out on the lake. heck on a good day i can hear ruff rider out at sodus point from the barn. my point being if your looking for help from others wile your taking your test( fishing in the pro/am) then you didn't do your homework. that's probley the biggest reason why we didn't do a pro/am not only because of the $$$$ that it took to get in but we really haven't fished the east end to the fullest YET and do not fished the west end unless someone gets a wild hair up the back side and we make a weekend out of it . we are a young team with high hopes and know their is a lot to learn and i hope as i look at this more i will be able to make a better decision about com's.

im not trying to be a pain in someone's side but PLZ educate me on the subject. where are the pro's and con's i don't want to make a decision unless i feel im well informed thank you all for your time

  9. heres a start.. http://www.landbigfish.com/articles/default.cfm?ID=1026

2nd daves right normaly we run #1 and you can hit around 100' down with 300' of wire out, to hit 50' its about 150' out. just take the depth u want and x3 should put close.

we run 4 dipsy's, 2 with #1 and 2 with mags on the inside, with keeping the inside ones with less line out to seprate things alittle and the mags dive faster. i realy dont sugest running a free slider on your rigger when running 4 dipsy's things like to get realy tangled but can be done on realy calm days

great luck and tight lines to you
