still have them. pulled a lot of hooks that were shot and have not replaced. txt sent as well

started using a small spro swivel from braid backing to a 30-50 foot piece of heavy mono. this is where you clip the planer board. and then mono/leadcore with the willis knot
-
pulled all bad hooks

Once and for all, add a split ring to these or not?

its just the end that i clip off that is sticking out. so where the mono touches the lead in the sheath. that lead (the end) is the part thats sticking out.

Wasted a 7 color around wire dipsy Sunday. Didn't realize the dipsy had tripped and when checking it reeled in the leadcore with walleye board... Worst mess Ive ever seen. After cutting I have 2 sections of 2 color that are still good. Can I tie some kind of knot and use this as a 4 color or is it shot?
-
When tying the willis knot with leadcore is there a trick to keep the sharp lead from popping through the sheath. Id say 75% of the time I tie the knot then inspect it and three inches back from the knot the lead is already sticking out the sheath....

thanks for quick reply. I have yet to run spinnys or paddles on my leadcore. That's the thing not sure if that rod will fire this time of year spoon only down around 20'..... I have dive bombs but thinking that may get in the way of the other lines?

Our current setup is 2 mag wire divers out on a 2 or 3 setting, 2 riggers (one stacked, one cheated) and 2 inline planers pulling cores on the outside. Is it safe to run another shallow core down the chute? Or is this asking for tangles. Was thinking a 5 or a 7 color pulling some kind of stingray or mag spoon. If we hook into a fish on an outside line we could clear the shorter core faster than a full core. We don't have a ton of rod holders so we are using the rocket launcher to hold the planer rods and this extra core rod would have to be up there as well. This should get it out from the riggers a little better being higher up.

whats going on over there? if i was in charge i would only be painting SSW's right now, thats what the customer wants!

what brand are the add-a-lines? and where can I get them? I tried to get the captain hook add a lines but captains cove was sold out and they can't find them anymore...
-
correction, we were using 10# weights. but we had some blowback for sure. also ran a 7 color core and it took no hits, figured that would be our high line for steel or coho, but nothing. ran everything from small bright orange stinger spoons, stingray nbk, to the bfuller mag SSW.
speeds at the surface were around 2.4-3.0

The board works great, pulls hard gets the line away from the boat (even with full cores) until the fish strikes. If its a small fish you can't tell and you have a rider until you check the line. But if you get a big fish the board dives and causes horrible drag, plus it spins. We have been rigging with the release tension high so it does not trip. Is it better to have the board release or is there another trick to it? Id say we lost 75% or more of the strikes because the board is such a pain to reel in. When it dives the fish usually gets slack and gets free but we can't even tell its off until we get the board unclipped.
