  1. The replacment motors fit the big jons

The Cisco look like the same motor but the price is more friendly and the motors have a locking ring on the drive shaft and a super sealed wrap on the motor body . Made in USA .

  2. The Cisco motors are twice the size of the big jons. Plus there is ZERO plastic anywhere on the Cisco's, all cnc machined aircraft aluminum.

Hey Tim bought the Cisco motors on your advice guess what they are the same size as the BigJon pro motors but they do have a lower gear ratio and cost a bit less. With the Big Jon price increases the Cisco product is competitive at the moment .

  3.  I too have a 40 gallon onboard tank, and the 2nd year I owned it, even though  I stabilized it, topped it off with new gas, and  even put stabilizer in every time I put gas in the year before it ended up costing me $1200.00  to rebuild the carbs and get the tank cleaned out the first time I took it out.  So now at the end of the season  before I put mine away I drain the gas out of it, put a new filter in, and it sits empty until spring when I refill it with non-ethanol.  I rigged an old 12 volt Hot Rod electric fuel pump, bought the motor end of the fuel line tap,  plug them together, and pump the old fuel into my pickup. The last thing I want to do is worry about rotten gas in my tank.

X2 I do the same thing works great.

  4. I have a sub troll and it treats me well I can't complain it is an older unit but it works.  I can't drop the $$$ they want for a fish hawk, my next one if I need to replace it might be the Smart Troll unit they seem to work and are a bit cheaper than the fish hawk.

I totally agree Fish Hawk always was pricey but generally good product I fished a 800 for years I think I paid $600 for it in the eighties . I like the fact that the Sub Troll is a local product not enough of that happening today.
  5. We run 20 lb Mason wire for most of the season on the East end out of Oswego until the fleas come and then we switch to 30 lb. A regular Lure Jenson diver set on a 2.5 setting will dive almost 2/1 up to about 160ft of wire out. We usually get 100ft down with 280 ft out. Our 600lc  reels are filled to the top! Be advised that we do not run Mag divers on 20 lb wire. We also strip off the pigtails and retie when necessary so that we don't break off.

There will be days when the currents down below can be reel bad and you just can't get the depth no matter what you do. You will see that in one direction the angle on the wires are really digging while going in the other direction they are not.

We also run double divers with the 20lb on the inside and the 30 lb on the outside.

Thanks cap ace that's the info I was looking for got two 600lc and rollers ready to go. I don't like or use mag divers but should I nix the mag rings on the standard divers with your numbers it looks like I don't need them ?

  6. I keep a spool with #250 power pro on the boat and change up my centre BJ Brute with it when fishing deep with a #20lb Shark it makes fishing that weight much easier and less prone to snapping off . Other then that I see no real advantage like Yankee stated no advantage fishing shallow with the #250 anyways can't speak about the lighter braid ? As to strength it is tough  but don't knick it the stuff is not forgiving.

  7. Not new to wire and not a big fan of mag divers . Looking to fish mag glow spoons deep and outside I have heard of Oswego fishers using standard divers with mag rings and 20lb wire with some success with this approach. Adding a couple more wires to the arsenal is no big deal to me but the one drawback is my wife has learned to count.

  8. That's alright.

Just to make it a bit more complicated I think you will agree that 30# test is 50% stronger than 20# test, while 20 #test is 33.3% weaker than 30# test.

To funny guys but I am still waiting to hear from somebody that actually runs or has run 20 lb and get their take on it . Thanks
  9. I run 30LB wire on my divers my question is I have two 20LB set-ups rigged this year how much more depth can I expect to achieve over the 30LB . I run big rings on my divers. Maybe some deep water East end fishers could chime in here. looking for info from guys that have or are running 20lb. Thanks in advance.

  10. HP I have three transducers mounted on the transom already and none of them work well at speed . Don't want to drill a hole through the hull that's why I inquired about the Airmar 79 and lakebound and kayaker have had good results with the in hull 79 I am going that route . Thanks for the replys .
