  1. Thanks for the report. We went out yesterday (Tuesday) and got skunked. We are fishing ash bridges/spit. Found the same thing Saturday water at surface in low 50's. yesterday was high 60's. we have been having good days before the lake turned over- last Tuesday in the evening we got a 25.5 king, a few smaller fish, and a nice 11 bow off a 200 copper and spoon. Same thing most of our fish are coming off of spinnies and flies/meat. Got a nice 29 off a whole herring/flasher. Good luck out there and keep those reports coming!
  2. Gents, thanks for the replies. I'm thinking of one of these for the rocket launcher mounted on pilothouse/ any feedback? Any other similar products out there? I have to go under a low bridge to get out and I like how this will pivot all of the Rods down http://berts-tackle.shptron.com/p/48-6-rod-rocket-launcher?pp=8
  3. Hello all. Looking for some advice setting up my new fishing boat, pic attached. I've moved the riggers right to the back corners since i took the pic. I'm looking to run dipseys as well, thinking of running them off the back of the pilothouse roof on a track with those cannon dual axis rod holders. Maybe putting a few rod holders on the track to store rods as well. I also want to run a copper line. And trying to figure where to store the rods when not in use, where to store the net, any other ideas/tips,etc... Basically, I have a blank slate to work with and I would really appreciate some advice before I start bolting rod holders, etc onto the boat. I'm pretty new to salmon fishing, got my first big fish two years ago with the help of this board and have finally got my own boat! Thanks for the help guys!
  4. Wire dipsies down to around 100 w glow green flasher flies. Within an hour had two little bastards and one aoprox 30lbs. My new digital scale needed a battery despite what the tackle shop guy claimed so weighed in the net with an old analog scale. How do you guys decide to take a fish to the scales or not? Within a pound? Less/more? Just wondering how much of a deifference there can be. Also if the scales sre closed for the day what do you do (lo salmon derby) Thanks! [ Post made via iPhone ]
  5. Have been using the 8' shimano talora roller rods. Used to have a 9' or so twirly tip rapala. I really prefer the taloras although am terrified that I will lose one after spending the kind of dough... I have a small boat so they are easier to deal with. Caught two 30lb fish on em so far this year and they seem to do well. Disclaimer- I'm pretty new to this kind of fishing, this is just my limited experience. [ Post made via iPhone ]
  6. Once you get down to 80' or so I imagine there isn't much light- do you guys all use glow or can the fish see down that deep? Thanks for this site I have been learning lots from it and putting some nice salmon in the boat and BBQ! [ Post made via iPhone ]
  7. Just got a pair of 8' and they have em. [ Post made via iPhone ]
  8. Don't worry guys... What you're imagining that nude beach to be is WAY better than what it actually is... Trust me! Hauled in an almost 30 off the spit last night. Just after I grabbed the rod, another hit, turned out to be around a 20, let him go at side of boat. Action was slow then all of a sudden bam bam! [ Post made via iPhone ]
  9. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: Logic 186 ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s): May 16/2012 Time on Water:2 hr Weather/Temp: Wind Speed/Direction: Waves: 1-2' Surface Temp: Location: Off the spit LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 1 Total Boated: 1 Species Breakdown: salmon Hot Lure: Big caramel coloured sppon Trolling Speed: 2.5 Down Speed: Boat Depth: 150' Lure Depth: approx. 20-30? ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== First one of the year.. third of my career... had a downrigger going but decided to throw out some metal line (copper colour so I assume that's what it is). Attached a large spoon and let out 150' and within 15min had a nice 10lb'er or so. I don't really know how deep it was as but my guess is around 20-30'. My fishfinder was marking lots of fish right at the surface but I assume that might just be interference as it was a bit rough. Thanks everyone for posting here I learned a lot over the winter (but still have much more to learn as you can tell)! Cheers and tight lines.
