  1. Thanks Nick, I was was thinking that might be the case. Could you still use the data that shows that huge temp break on that 40 degree line as useful info or is it all useless and should should plan on finding temps with the x4 when I'm out there? This am I started in 100fow and had 47 deg down 75 but when I ended the day in 75 fow it was 45 near the bottom. When I was out to 170 I marked notta but when I came back in that 60 to 80 I marked all kinds of bait. Mike

  2. Goat boy, I have a GLS 195 and use a 6hp. You might want to go with a 9hp if it were me. Not sure about short or long based on your hull. I think it would depend on if you were gonna use a mount or directly on your hull. Get a trolling bar. EZ steer. They do have remote throttle kits. Not too familiar with them though.

  3. Mark, about now there broken up pretty much. You can get them trolling cranks around the north end in about 15fow or if your luck enough can find some schools off pump house on intake. Will that be PayPal or visa?

  4. Caught in 2004 in Holland by an angler named Ewot Blom 42.9 lbs 127 cm long.

Found a website called lucky lures that has the worlds biggest pike records on it.  You would be surprised to know that NewYork has a NorthAmerica Record of 46 lbs and 52 inches long on Sacandaga lake back in 1940.

  5. I'm surprised your seeing a neg volt with manuals. One thing you can test is touching the neg to your neg side of the battery with a volt tester and dipping your positive lead into the water. You should see a neutral voltage of .6 to .7 volts. Then touch the cable with the pos lead and see if it changes. If both are negative readings of that -.05 as you were seeing something is out of wack.

  6. FieroMX3 Are the downriggers electric or manual?  Do you have a plastic snap between the ball and the cable?  Do you get the same reading with touching the neg (black) to the neg side of the battery and the red (pos) to the cable?  Are all the electronics / power / motor off when your doing it?  You may want to try these things as they could cause electrical leakage.  I had electric Mags go on me and boy did I learn a lesson.

  7. Thats a great run down of how it works Bigfoot, Thanks for that information.  I can understand the diffculty to affect any change as i have heard of that recently as well.  Hopefully a few meetings this week with some councilman from Geneva may provide an arguement that its time for some change.

One thing that should be accpeted is that it can always be better.  And for what its worth, the daily raffles, one of the imporatnt things is letting people know who won? and the catch and release theory should be practiced as much as possible.  If for what ever reason your thinking the lake trout population needs to be decimated because you think theres too many?  thats a whole other argument that I really would rather not get into.  Anyway, Im looking foward to next years derby.

  8. I'll have to get the skinny on who's volunteers and who isn't. The DEC that supports it along with some of the other folks for food stands and maybe some who do help out at the weigh ins are indeed volunteer, but the leaders of this event are definitely paid. Sad to see a first time derby placer that wanted to see her name up on the leader board couldn't because they wouldn't update the board the whole day. I also can't imagine the number of fish that could of been thrown back if people would of known prior to coming in that you needed 10lb plus to place the last day but instead brought in 9 lbers thinking they could get on the board. Maybe it's to simple. My final frustration is the daily drawings. No numbers provided on who were the winners. Was told they have them and that checks would be mailed to the winners. Mmmm. Now that doesn't seem right in Denmark..........

It's a long standing derby that means a lot to a whole bunch of people out there. I would hate to see it dwindle away. Having 2300 entrants back in the day compared to 1300. Next year is the 50th year, hope they can see the importance of it.

  9. FLX, I feel your pain, things weren't planned very well, SLAB, sorry but the things I've seen over the past few years tells me it's time for change. When you can walk up to see the leader board on the second day in with nothing on it but the leader, and oh yea 4 people working, I believe they get paid, standing there drinking coffee doing nothing, telling you to get the information on line??? Oh I forgot, the one guy first asked what is it your looking for?? I said I would like to know if anyone I know has placed, were still pulling the information together...... On day 2? This was the geneva location.

  10. Adk1, yes they come in strips for the gunnel lights and also came with the waterproof led for live wells that i actually mounted in my dash and in the back to use for a glow stick on my spoons.  I purchased the standard boat package and some toggle switches from them.  If you type in HAWG for the discount code you get a % discount, cant remember how much 5% or so.  Ive got some pics just have to download them.  One is the white and the other is the blue. Mounted them on a plastice strip and screwd that to the underside aluminum rail.  Worked out pretty good.

  11. Bluewater Led. Installed the basic package with a few separate for space lighting. White for needed light when fishing late or early and blue when running. Mounted two strips under gunnels and dash hooked up to switches. Awesome look. Customer service was great. Lifetime warranty. Fitted the whole boat for hundred bucks.
