  1. May get out Friday morning but somewhere along the western north shore.
  2. Was near there a week ago or so. Lots of marks, mostly hugging the bottom. Didn't get into any Kings but had a few Cohos come to play. Likely will be out tomorrow morning as well, haven't decided what area yet.
  3. Did Port D today. Fished 08:00-14:00 and had one small Coho. Lots on the surface but no takes besides the coho around noon. Was quite the nightmare getting there and back with the massive accident on the QEW shutting it down for the day but at least we broke the goose egg!
  4. Thanks for keeping us updated on Port Credit and area. Looking forward to getting fish along the north shore once again!
  5. Same result along the western shore near Fifty Point. We were certainly spoiled last spring at this time!
  6. Just wondered if anyone can recommend a pier to fish off of this time of year. Anywhere from Toronto to Niagara Falls would work. We've done the Niagara River but there are just a tonne of people there and not much action on the Canadian side. Anybody catch anything off the mouth of the rivers from Bronte-Oakville-Credit this time of year?
  7. Looking to replace an old fish finder. Not sure what all the new gizmos and gadgets are was hoping someone could chime in and emphasize what is/isn't really needed. We have a GPS unit so in reality only looking to improve our fish finding capability and especially our transducer...
  8. Funny, I just looked into that area. Only problem is it's a 17hr drive. May as well take the few more down to FL. Do you do inland or offshore in SC?
  9. Hey all, Just wondered if anyone heads south during the winter months for some fishing action and where your locale of choice is. We've gone to Naples FL area the past few times and have a good guide there who gets you into the action whatever your fancy may be. We were looking to try a new area (yet one that still doesn't cost a fortune to get/fly to). Any spots (and potentially guides) you'd recommend?
  10. What was the surface temp? Any idea what it was where your lures were running? We hit everything from surface to 120 feet down in 15-350 fow between Bronte and Oakville. Just wondering how you found your target "sweet spot"...
  11. Was out on Thursday. Hit 15-350 fow. Not a single bite either. Warmest surface temp we found was out deep (51F @ 320 fow) but even then not a bite not even marking bait fish or anything. All websites I use for winds/temp etc. show the warmer water being on the south shore. They may have moved south, not sure. I know one thing, they're not hanging around water sitting at 46F on the surface and 44F 120' down... basically no temperature change in the entire water column makes for really tough fishing. If you find any out there let me know, I'd like to get out once more before I go into hibernation.
  12. Not a problem. Not so much today. We went to Long Point bay in Lake Erie. Not much there this time of year - a lot of fishing pressure. Got a few small ones (Perch etc.) and caught a pike trolling but that's it. May have one more go at Lake Ontario next week but it's a coin toss. But ya, use those sites. They're pretty reliable and can make all the difference if you're in a "tippy canoe".
  13. I also have those in my repertoire. I also recommend windfinder, it has swell forecast and everything too. I've linked it below. Saturday will likely be our last fish of the year. Not sure where we'll try our luck but good luck to you. http://www.windfinder.com/forecasts/wind_great_lakes_akt.htm
  14. Thanks. We went out today. Not even a knock off. Water was most 44F on the surface. Went to 350 fow and found 51F on the surface. That was the best we could do. Temp was 45F 100' down. Perhaps should have fished Grimsby or more western than Bronte-Oakville. http://www.coastwatch.msu.edu/ontario/o1.html
  15. Thanks again for all the info and tips. Any chance you'll be on the water tomorrow (Friday) afternoon? We'll be heading out based on your advice in what could be one of our last hoorahs before work starts getting busy again.
  16. Thanks for the info. There clearly is some successful spawning in the Credit unless most of those fish are stocked.
  17. Thanks. That is all the info I needed . Don't worry, you tell me your secret it won't hurt you - everything is released for someone else to enjoy.
  18. Just wondered where more fish spawn, Bronte Creek or the Credit River. Anyone have any ideas?
