  1. I have the copper/leadcore okuma rod. I use that for pulling copper. My question is with leadcore do you need a special rod? Will the leadcore wear thru a normal downrigger rod eyes? Thanks! Jared
  2. Big Dave- "put one over the side" what exactly are you referring to?
  3. I do we'll with copper and ok with downriggers out of my boat. I'm trying with the kayak now. Can't wait for winter to come and have the fish near the surface
  4. I was thinking leadcore. Or maybe dipsy with wire
  5. Went out first light in kayak. Flatlined rapalas from 100-150' back in anywhere from 20-60 FOW. No takers there. Moved out to 100-150 FOW with couple different colored last masters from 100-200' back. No takers either. Depth works great on FF but does not show much on screen. Any suggestions? Thanks
  6. I have a 14.5 foot sylvan with outboard. But I'm going to be doing a lot of trolling out of the kayak this winter. Flatline rapalas with one rod and set up a dipsy rod. So you concentrate more in shore or out in lake still? I know fish aren't down far bc of temps
  7. Holy ****! Lol Thanks. I'm new to the trolling game. I hammered lakers pulling copper this summer and picked up "bonus fish" on downrigger and dipsy. (Prolly lucky). Going to try and run more lines next year. Thanks for the info! Now it's time to river fish. Salmon and then steelhead all winter!
  8. Thanks I use a two rod setup right now. One copper rod 500' back that we constantly pull. And another rod off the downrigger. I want to use the inline board on another copper rod same side as the rigger
  9. Hey have you ever tried running an inline board with copper? Next year I was thinking of trying a yellowbird planer with a copper setup. -Jared
  10. I have mobile version too. iPhone 4S and I can never get My pics to load. Wish I could load the pic of the laker I got while I was swimming!
  11. Nice fish both morning an night! How are you posting pics? U upload to Internet then LOU? I've had trouble everytime and unable to upload
  12. Ended up 12 with copper and 3 off downrigger. All lakers. 14 released! Few scars and one attached lamprey to fish and 2 lampreys on the ball. One wild fish biggest was 7lbs
  13. We are still out pulling copper in Aurora in front of college. We have 11 on the copper and 3 on the downrigger. Pulled up 3 lampreys attached to the ball! 1 lamprey on a fish. And a few scarred fish. 1 native so far about 4 lbs. biggest fish 7 lbs so far. I have a snubber attached to 4lb ball with 20 feet of 30lb test. Silver quickfish with pink dots. Not running a rod too many weeds! 85-105 FOW it's been a killer morning so far!
  14. We are out now just caught 2 on first pass. One 15 inches the other 4 lbs. grabbing coffee and headed back to set up
  15. Hey keep'n it reel! No all fish were small. First time I fishe it since Sunday. Sunday was 6 for 6 and smallest was 5 lbs. trying again in the morning. Normally we boat 10 fish or so with 5 lbs the average size. Pulling copper in aurora has been awesome for me this summer
  16. Just caught 5 today in Aurora. 1 wild fish and no lamprey marks on any of the 5
  17. Yes! These lampreys are nasty! Most fish have scars if not an eel attached. And most of the scars are fresh red still even bloody like lamprey fell off during fight. DEC needs to lampricide them here
  18. Catch and Release on all fish over 5lbs. 95% go back in water. That's with all species!
  19. I can say for the lakers I've been doing very well. Been consistently getting 6-10 fish every trip. Lots of 8lbs and some 10s this year. One 12lb jigging early in June. I pull copper from 85 to 100 FOW 1.5-2.5 mph and hammer them! 500 feet back. It's been an awesome summer!
  20. Look at Craigslist that's where I got my 14.5 foot sylvan with a 25 hp mercury tracker. Picked it up for 1600. It's the fishing boat o my dreams! Lots of deals on Craigslist
  21. Fleas were real bad last night in Aurora. Made using the rigger tough
  22. Apb, It's 5 dollars for non residents. There is no gate or anything. If you're there before park staff, launch and fish. There will be a ticket on windshield when you return
  23. Hey thanks for the info! Want to try trolling from kayaks soon. Dipsy would be great for that
  24. What are you running for dipsy's? Mono or wire? Was gonna try out the sea flee 30lb mono from blood run tackle
  25. That's awesome! I hope by the time I have kids, I've figured out trolling like you have! Awesome!
