  1. Went out of Olcott head out to 400fow trolling 40-65 fow spin doctor crushed mtn dew and alewife mag spoon 45ft. Down on the rigger it gets smashed makes a few runs then really put it in high gear and took it down to the backing and snapped the line. I was in the process of clearing lines the line wrapped around the dipsey rod we run it feed it through the eyelets and I tied it back on. Thinking I'd maybe get some of my braid back or my setup well after two cranks, boom she's still on there. Handed it back to my dad and he landed this 38" 25 pound king with eggs in her and a 3ft Lamprey we cut up. But I wish I had this on video was absolutely one of the craziest redemptions I've had. 3. Wait I thought monel was thin and used to with dipseys to cut through the water better letting you get less blow back and get deeper faster am I mistaken? Sent from my SPH-L720 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  4. Also do you guys have any input on slide divers are they any good or is it better to just stick with regular dipseys? Sent from my SPH-L720 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  5. So 40 pound would be where I want to be on that. Sent from my SPH-L720 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  6. So putting on 80 wouldn't be over kill due to fact I am planning on going to saltwater again soon and was going to spool my Penn squall 60LD with something a bit heavier Sent from my SPH-L720 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  7. Thanks dr. Chad I am familiar with wire knots from runnings in saltwater and I just wanted to.make sure before I spent the cash on the extra line. I also switched out 3 tips already for lead core and copper and it was much easier than I thought it would be. You don't think I need to put rollers anywhere or anything of the sort with them do i? 8. I currently run 65 pound power pro which I know I could be using something a little lighter but I bought it at a amazing price. But I currently just added two more rod holders on my traxtech. I was wondering people input on monel vs just stainless steel wire and also if 300 is sufficient or if 1000 is truly necessary for running a second set of dipseys off each side. I appreciate any input. Also is twili tips enough or is replacing the guides or buying rods with all rollers a better idea. Sent from my SPH-L720 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  9. I have two Penn fathom master manuals and use 12 pound torpedoes and haven't had a problem in the three years of fishing them. I just take my riggers apart and make sure everything nothing is in need of being replaced. I also purchased these used but they were like new due to the previous owner being a bass fisherman and never using them. Sent from my SPH-L720 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  12. Well I made some adjustments switching my spoons to DW and moonshine mags. Also picked up the okuma Coldwater which seems "okay" so far, haven't seen enough time on the water. Went out of Wilson and headed right to 180fow fishing 50-70 down went 6-9 with a laker and steelie in the mix. Have a hard time reading the lowrance elite 5 dsi. And still haven't made the investment of the fish hawk. But all rods fired with 450 copper having producing the most. Sent from my SPH-L720 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  13. Did you have problems with the line getting caught on the sides of the rollers or anything and how flex do they have a stiff backbone with a sensitive tip or are they all around stiff? Sent from my SPH-L720 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  14. Hey I was figuring they would they be better for wire line but if they are pain in the asses then it isn't worth it Sent from my SPH-L720 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  20. I recently decided to take one of my saltwater combos a copper setup with a Penn squall60Ld. The rod it came with is a 5'6 roller rod which I also was think might be good down the chute but worried about a fish really twisting up all the lines. Would that rod work or would it be better in a tite-lok on the side any opinions would help. I also have two lead core setups which I believe because I'm using cheap ass yellow birds for the time being is causing me to do a whole lot of reeling which makes me not want to ever utilize these set ups Sent from my SPH-L720 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
