  1. Jerry McKinnis was my favorite.
Pretty sure he fished water that was open to the public .
Most of the old fishing shows turned into infomercials, which drove me crazy ,but I understood it's how you paid the bills ,but really cut into my happiness of watching and dreaming of catching the big one like pros. I'm happy to with the YouTube and the likes to look specifically at what you want to.
Forums have also been great especially LOU for getting info, which didnt really exist back in the "old days".

Nice post Pete, brought back some memories of watching the shows with my dad.

  2. Sorry for being a bit skeptic, but I see all that great technology and I wonder if the hunter also gets better. Could you reach the same amazing results with an old but very precise carbine with a 7.62 bullet at 400 yards? This modern -sometimes- laser guided equipment is great, but isn't the hunting sport more about learning about the prey and honing the senses of the hunter, than it is about making that technology guided shot?

This is kinda saying it's not sportsman like to fish with a fishfinder.
Shouldn't the fisherman just know where the fish are and hone their skills not using speed/temp probe either

  3. Last year we shot a 7 man limit of Canvasbacks on Cayuga, all drakes, we shot a Canvasback Redhead hybrid that day and after talking with a friend who is a ECO he said we could count it towards either our Can or Redhead limit. We counted it towards our Redhead limit. A day I will never forget. We gave the bird to a friend who mounts nothing but birds. It is only the second such hybrid I have ever seen. Last week, my brother and his son and daughter shot a banded Can, it was banded in northern Saskatchewan in 2005 as an adult. Very cool.
Love to see pics of that bird.

  4. During one of the National Lake Trout derbies on Seneca Lake while trolling my son and I found a hundred thirty three dollars floating on the surface and watched either a 20 or a fifty swirl toward bottom in the prop wash. Guess the net paid for itself on that one[emoji38]
Oh wow . I'm glad you found my money Les,
    I'll PM you my address

  5. Let's not forget about the Johnson's silver minnow spoon. After reading all of this I have decided where 2020 vacation will be. Haven't been to Eel bay since1986 and 1987. Is it still called a vacation when you are retired

Call it whatever you want as long as your fishing.
