Crazy idea here for sure, but anyone ever try a spinning rod down chute for steelhead? I always run a leader down the chute with good success but would love to try to go after the steelies with lighter tackle. Assuming I could get the line deep enough with a weight of some sort, I assume it could work. Anyone ever try it?

Ill take them if still for sale PM sent

I agree with p3434. Though you can do it successfully, its all about what happens when you get a big fish on. 10 color leadcore is what i run down the chute and is always cleared quickly when a fish is on

Had one of those moments this weekend where I just wasn't thinking. I meant to set up a paddle with twinkie rig for meat as I always get my best fish by parking it in the ice water. I sent it down without the paddle. It wasn't until we netted our first fish that I noticed. Sent it back down and had action all day. It took all matures . Other meat with paddles were never moved out of holder. I guess they wanted a more clean approach that day lol Learn something every day

Out of Bald eagle again yesterday. Sat down early in 120 and headed north. Not much happened until we hit 475' Then it was a steady pick from there. Worked a break between 490'-515' for most of rest of day Everything took fish (copper , FF, Dispels, Spoons, leadcore) but they really wanted spoons and many cheater hits. temps were all over the place and currents were tough again. best action was 40 ' down to 70' down. anything green and black worked
worked our way back in and found good marks at 220 with matures. Took 2 on dipseys / skinny / fly and headed in
great day to be on the water

Fished past two days out of kendall. Fished 200-350 '. Had tough days keeping fish buttoned but most we landed were quality.
Bite was strong. Fri was all spoons and meat for us but sat was FF day mostly though spoons and meat each took rips.
Currents CRAZY. Fished primarily 80ft to 130ft to stay w colder temps.
No fleas.
Back out today. Tight lines

2 coppers 2 dipseys and 2 riggers to start. Spoons by themselves off of flouro leader usually 20-25lb leader for kings termintated tona good snap swivel. Flys behind spin doctors and padel flashers. You can use a dodger in front of a spoon but i usually dont. Cowbells for lakers
couldn't summarize it any better than this.
Do you have down speed/temp setup on your boat? If so try to zero in and get your gear throughout the temp layers concentrating on 42-54 and then reproduce when a rod goes. Keep a log in the beginning with details of every fish as it helps to develop patterns

nice fish!!! Thanks for the report any specific depth that good temp was at or was it all over the place?

Got a bonus lake trout while picking up lines I slowed down and left my LED core set up out and Wham heck of a nice fish!!
We fished primarily 180 to 250 ft of water.
Mostly a spoon bite, but did have several fish on a flasher and Fly. Thanks for all the help making this a successful trip.

agree with above. Meat is always in my spread and always in the ice water. 9/10 days it will produce biggest fish of the day
I run big weenies 11 in paddle with meat rig and twinkles. as well as Minions rigs (here on LOU) Minions don't seem to need much tuning. Great product

Alright guys, We throw a lot of the fish back, but for those we keep, Im getting tired of kneeling at side of boat with a board trying to hold onto both the board and the fish without losing my knife overboard. I know that every boat setup is different, but just looking for ideas that anyone uses for an onboard fish cleaning station. Pics would be great if you can. Thanks and tight lines!

First, I am impressed that you pulled off a fishing trip on mother's day. Next I must say that was just great. To be able to save that memory on video is absolutely priceless. Way to go!!!!

I will say this, imo it is worth figuring out and running. Usually our biggest fish of the trip comes off meat
