  1. Thanks for sharing this info, it is so very helpful to newbees. How far up from the regular spoon are you setting the mag? How far out in relation to the regular?
  2. read on another forum about guy whose boat sunk 5 miles out, real quick. Was thinking that as I will be fishing alone in an older aluminum boat I should be prepared and a lanyard shut off would be advisable in case I fall out. I have a merc 120 I/o. Can anyone advise an easy to understand method, to what wire can I rig something, maybe right at/near the engine? Love this site, been lots of help to me. Thanks to all posters.
  3. With the light's positive wire to the battery the light comes on without the negative wire connected to anything, so the light bulb' s socket must be grounded through the light's assembly to the aluminum hull. If I make sure every light, etc, has a wired ground am I ok? Is the engine/outdrive providing the ground connection and if so is that normal? Just don't use the hull for negative connections to anything and I'm OK? Thanks to everyone who responded....previous boats were glass, I'm not at all knowledgable about boat electronics.
  4. Hi. Got a 70s vintage starcraft alum boat, lotsa changes made by previous owners, wires in back by 120 I/o looks like bowl of noodles. Was surprised to find while trying to get aft light working that the light is grounded to the boat, like an old car. Is that normal? Is there an electrical field going into the water?
  5. newbee here, never seen that kind of video b4, what a blast. this forum is great and thanks for sharing.
  6. thanks for those ideas, guys. I hadn't thought about the car gps. I recently bought a new one and will try out the old one I have out in the garage. I'm also going to look at the others. Thanks again.
  7. Wanted to get some kind of gps mainly just for accurate speed display. Bought a refurb megellon tritan 400 handheld, no printed manual, gotta go on line, directions are mumbo jumbo to this geezer, phoned help #, they couldn't hardly speak English and had no knowledge of product so I returned it. Can any one recommend a resonable priced product that will give accurate speed? (and easy to figure out how to use)
