  1. Anyone still catching salmon out by the fingers yet or just mainly the trench now? The last time I had a chance to get out the fish were out in the shipping channel so big change for me. Much closet haul with the boat will be nice. Also any special colors of FF combos or spoons that are hitting best now? We are planning on launching from Henderson around 6am tomorrow morning. Maybe we will see some of you guys out there too hopefully.

  2. Sounds like Saturday was fun, but I'm glad I wasn't able to get out. The 4 ft waves with my little 21ft cuddy cabin would of been a challenge. I'm going to try and shoot for getting out this up coming Sunday. My saturdsy is booked already with eye appointments for the boy and my other half. Maybe a late afternoon trip could be possible. Otherwise my labor day weekend is my only shot at this fun event and meeting some of you guys on here.

  3. I would opt for condensation first with what you've said & the engine in question. Drain it well & if you have enough room to drain it out thru the pan all the better. Put a fresh filter & a good grade of straight HD30W oil in it & keep an eye on it.

    L&M,

Giving you an update on my boat motor findings! It turns out that I did have a bad head gasket. So here is what I done:

Pulled intake manifold and gasket looked good. Found that one small freeze plug that rusted through so I replaced all 3 on the head. I took the head off to check that gasket before putting back together and did find that the port holes between number 5 and 6 cylinders has rust through for water port and oil ports to push rods. It wasn't reel bad yet but it could have gotten worse. I replaced it and torqued down the head in the 3 step process and done a cold valve lash adjustment. It started right up but I had to readjust valve rockers slight afterwards while it was running to get rid of slight ticking. I ran motor for over a half hour now on water muffs and no milky oil and motor runs great. Hoping for final test out on the waters with it this weekend.

  4. Hi markdaniel, I've been following that post from the begining and it's very interesting. I'm wondering where are the mountain and the finger?

    Crestliner,

To answer your question I think the finger and mountain is past the pill boxes along the high wall of the Henderson straight out towards the stony light house. It is a ways out there past the light house If I am correct but maybe someone more knowing can chime in here on this for you. If you look at the lake contours of Lake Ontario you will see contours that look like fingers in a depth of around 120-150ft

  5. That is a nice king! There are some nice ones out there and good that you landed that one. The one day I went out with my friend on his boat we had a king peel out over 500ft of line and he managed to get him back to the boat but it got off right at the boat unfortunately. We could see it was a huge one most likely close to the 40# range by the way it looked in the water. It really sucked!!

  6. Just getting home from fishing

Really Good day once the waves calmed down. Between three of us we brought home 5 lake trout and 5 kings. We lost a huge one right at the boat that peeled out over 500ft of line. We put back at least 8 king skippys that were just too small. Most all ofv the fish were caught in 130-175 fow and down 90-115 @the ball on green jeans spoons and green dolphin spoons. Very few on dipsys but the ones we did was 250ft and spoons also. Will post some pics when im not tired and have to work early in the morning.
