We are in, how many entrants this yr?

End of June/ most of July and into August Bass fishing in Sampson ive always had really good luck fishing the break wall on the North side of the marina, like right on the break wall, seems like they hang out pretty close to that.

As far as trolling goes, good luck as Lady Seneca doesnt always give it up easily. What ive learned is that if they are hitting you will be able to get them on a spoon game even though there are tactics that are probably more effective.

There is a really good, enthusiastic charter captain who has his home base at Sampson also.

Awesome!!! The article says we can use all valid tags! That is also surprising as i searched the DEC website for information relating to using your regular season buck tag during holiday hunt but couldnt find anything specific! I know there was an earlier question on this thread regarding that but i was skeptical.

There is some legislation in the works that may allow counties to opt out. The NYSCC is urging people to ask the governer to veto S6510/A7785.

Thanks for the info. I just opposed this bill on the Ny Senate website!!! Not that my county would vote to get rid of it but I love the Holiday hunt! Last year was phenomenal.

Sampson is my favorite place to camp minus that guy.

Ha, looks like i misunderstood that question! 

IF we are talking about the same thing (slider/cheater)a slider is simply a lure on a leader with a snap swivel placed onto a downrigger line. It gravitates/sinks to the apex of the line created by your boats movement through the water. 

I wouldnt waste any time on Seneca. Go to a different lake. 

I mainly hunt public land, i have had sd cards taken and then replaced (wiped clean of course). I know this because i checked cameras on a Wednesday (no card), came back to put sd cards back in and there is an sd card in there!!!! When i see someone elses camera out i usually give them the NY Salute or just totally avoid it. Cameras are usually a good indication of where deer may be and should be left alone.

The forest rangers put cameras out every year for about 3 weeks leading up to gun season in the worst locations. They had one out one year on a cliff overlooking a ravine.

I mainly hunt 8s, 7r public land and saw more deer than i have seen in over 15 years. Just not the big boys, lots of 6 points and under and a ****load of doe.

When NY State finally mimics PA and lets us use crossbows during the whole archery season it will be a great day. I have never understood the disdain by many towards the people who choose to use a crossbow. Choosing to use a compound bow doesn't make you a better hunter or a more ethical hunter, it just means you prefer what you are comfortable with. It all comes down to the individual and how much discipline and integrity they have or may not have. Be safe, be smart and aim for the heart and lungs!
