Braddocks 7-22 PM
invasahata posted a topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
Temperature breaks were funky tonight! Started at 65 over 130 fow. Temp. was 55+ but stayed with the marks-plenty of them. Did 3 kings (3 includes the banana sized one). Trolled in to 110 and found the cooler water (49) at 85 feet, nothing on the screen with one pass. Fumbled the lamprey on the one yard line by the way. On an unrelated note thanks for the lead on good wind and wave apps. A mix of Windfinder and Buoyweather are proving helpful for me and my smaller boat. -

Spiny fleas

I fish Braddocks regularly and agree they are a bigger issue. I am not getting any buildup from my flasher and dipsy to my lure though. Like one poster said cleaning up during regular lure checks is the added inconvenience. I have not considered that they may contribute to a lower catch rate though. It is very satisfying to strip them off the wire though. I broke my own record and collected at least four feet of them above one dipsy. Be sure to flick them off the boat otherwise they attract those darn biting flies. -

Interesting as we went with Wicked Ridge too and it has an anti-dry fire mechanism that can fool you into thinking you are fully cocked. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

Holy fast! We sighted in yesterday. No major issues other than bolts easily traveling through our block. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

Brooks is probably our best bet if we go with a club. Thanks. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

Thanks! He is experienced with all implements via scouts etc. I have stayed busy searching for good options. Just not a ton out there that beats me driving the 75 minutes to our hunting spot to set up a target. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

No takers on this post. Nonetheless I thought I would share that lightweight ruled our decision making. Went with Wicked Ridge Invader X4. About $400 Bass Pro. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

Any good walk up options at a nearby shooting range? I am in Fairport but hunt in the Southern Tier. My son will start his hunting journey this year so I want to be sure he is ready. Not sure we are good candidates for a membership as we just need to dial in before each hunting season. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

Looking for a crossbow for my 12 yo. Any thoughts on something that comes out of the box in good shape? Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

Coaxed my 11 yo onto the boat with a promise to start our trip with the bass bite. By 6pm we motored west out of the bay and trolled from 160-125’. Changed our spoon program twice before we settled at 80’ over 125’ where bait was unusually deep. Had a ball coaching my first mate on the finer points of landing a major. Learned a good lesson myself which was to use neutral to close the deal. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United -

Not sure if it matters but weeds are thick as snot at launch (I mean thick!!) making it tough to get good bunk to boat contact on retrieval. I feel like this is an annual phase given the right conditions. No way to clear things until I launch again so I am going to just cinch my straps when things dry out. Short trip due to wind and waves so I just donated my parking fee and messed with a few program changes. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
