  1. I’ve never fished stripers before, but I’m in Kingston for the next weeks for work. I didn’t bring the boat this week but considering bringing it down the next two weeks. I’m staying off exit 19, any suggestions on where to launch. General tips.

  2. When everyone says there fishing in 10’ or 6’ of water is that where your boat is or is that where the planner boards are. I’m new at this and I’m trying to learn as much as possible. Last Sunday was the first time ever out for Browns and didn’t have a bad day but didn’t have a great day when it came to size. We have a planner mast off the bow and we were running the boards about 50’-60’ of both sides. Any info would be great. Thanks.

Im ew to it also this was only my second brown trip. This site helped a ton. I tried to keep the boat in 10. I watched the temp looking for warmer water. 37-38 was the best we got. Found 40 but it was over 40’ when we made our turn. Also didn’t take any hits until we found darker water. Went from seeing every pebble to just barely seeing bottom.

  3. I had similar results fishing the same area both yesterday and Wednesday.  I think I recognize your boat and if you were in the rain you fished late.  I quit before you and headed in around 5:30.  I think you were the black Princecraft (if I recall correctly) that was near me late.   For anyone else thinking Mexico.  There is a lot of clear water...although the west winds will help with that a little and the streams are pumping full  mud as of this afternoon.

I was the grey tracker fishing near the prince craft.

  4. For now looks of it I’ll be on the water around 9 until 4 or 5. (7 hrs on the road for 8hrs of fishing) Unless It gets real wet. Thinking Mexico point and troll SW. I think that’s where the wind is out of.

  5. I’m thinking of making a day trip Thursday to Pulaski area, if my boat is back. How important is it to be on the water early. I assume as the day warms up so would the water, or does that not matter? I would like to head out early but may have a daycare issue.

  6. Want to hit the lake in April I usually fish east end but my wife wants to pick a weekend now to put in for time off. I hate to do it and have 6 footers and not be able to fish. I fished Niagara river for the first time in December. It’s twice the drive but I was thinking if the Bar was rough the river would be fishable. Want to target Browns but really just want to get the wife on Fish and if I’m not mistaken there are kings there in the spring. Thanks for any input.

  7. Picture is worth a thousand words. That looks like a short run but I could see funnel. Such a great app. I'll have to try that next year. I live in lake george area, but since I got turned onto Lake O last year, I'm trying make it 2-3x a year now. This is 3rd this year(limited success). I've been trying different places each time. I want to tackle the bar/Niagara river this winter.

  8. Headed out of Stony this morning and hit the Trench... large rollers on the way out. Ended up landing one. 2 came off. One broke the leader, one was user error. A good amount of short hits that came off. Flasher/Fly bite. Salmon seemed to be hanging out of temperature. IMG_7016.thumb.JPG.c34335b5d007046f98901b5a3c3b5d2a.JPG

I made it out of Cat fish around 630. Headed north and had a good screen when I got to 150 (was a waypoint from last year). I was solo and the waves were too much for the ipilot, so I headed in. I'm new at this. Where is the trench? I've heard about it. Im head out again in the morning around 6. Also first time with a radio, what channel does every use?
