Double check the wave forecast. It can be a long ride in 3-4ft waves depending on the size of your boat. I try to avoid that in my 18' aluminium boat. Speaking from 37yrs fishing the lake. Right now the forecast looks good but that can change.
I have the site for the wave forecast 1 or less for now., west wind could complicate things. I did a 3 or less day on my 19', and that is my limit. Luckily it went from the 3 to less by mid day. I wasn't having fun trying to set lines on a wave machine.

I am planning to make the 3 hour trip to try and get into some browns Sunday. Was planning on launching out of Selkirk shores and make a run toward the plant. Find stained water 20' or less 1.5-2.0mph. Mix of bay rats and spoons (greens?)This is my first time targeting browns and only my third time on the lake. Any advice would be appreciated.

The keel sinker method worked for this guy yesterday. Thanks for all the help.

Snap weights!
I was thinking of kit of them. Basically OR release connect to sinker right.

I'm looking for what guys feel is best to run spoons off boards in the first ten feet or so of the column. Without sinking line. I've been told split shot but was also told they will twist. Also looking for hook recommendations for running meat for landlocks, more so on smaller lakes. I've been using octopus but have had a few come off. Thanks for any information. I'm a new to this.

Thanks for the info. It fits pretty snug in the tube. I'm going to ratchet it in until I can affix the two together more securely.

I recently ordered a big Jon mast. I have a targa and I would like to mount it in the bow pedestal. Has anyone done it or have any advice on mounting it.

Thanks for the info, I'll probably start with a floating handheld. I don't go offshore much but Sk8man is probably right. I should probably get base radio eventually. Doesn't hurt to have two.

I'm looking for advice on a handheld marine radio. I looked on Amazon. I don't want to spend a ton because I will only need it a handful of time a year. But I don't want to need to use and find out that it's worthless.

Sk8man said it perfect. I had one until it came off my downrigger cable. It gives you a good starting point and it is really helpful checking the depth of your divers.

I have a 2015 targa, I bought some canon holders off Amazon. They work well but I had one break while trolling a large wire diver.

If we are out there and want to try the river, is it easy to navigate? Is there anything I should know about navigating the river? I have a targa 18. Thanks for any information. This site has been great helping me try new things. I just don't want to get in over my head.

I'll probably have the boat out next week. We still have a lot of ice where I am. I'm looking into second weekend in March for a weekend trip. I've never been out there before. Is a spoon bite? Or is there preferred method out there?

I'm looking into taking a trip out to the Bar this spring. Is March to early? I've never been out there but I've been reading there is a good mix of browns, kings, and coho.

Thanks for the information guys. I have a small boat and I think copper is going to help get more lines in.

I'm new to trolling this upcoming season will be my second. I'm looking at getting some wire setups. First question is wire divers, is a snubber recommended? Next is as far as copper. When trolling copper do I put on as much copper as it can hold and let out as depth requires. Or does a rod have to be set up with a specific amount of copper for depth so I'm into the backing. Is attaching copper to boards or inlines ok or should it be attached to backing? Sorry if these are odd questions but I'm new to this and love trying new techniques.

I'm headed to Mexico Bay for my first time this week. Anyone have any success using hoochies for kings? Do you rig them behind a flasher or spin doctor? Or should I just stick with a flasher fly.

Thanks for the speed. Slower than 2 is hard in my boat without putting out the bags. I've heard about rocks near the plant? Are they marked or is it something I need to be aware of?
