I'm going this wknd. However I'm drifting in a boat. There also are plenty of Niagara river videos on utube as well. Don't know how much it'll help but will let u know

Let me know about that lews. Tax time I'm buying something. I prefer a versatile combo that throws everything well vs matching technique to a specific rod/reel combo.
-
Sounds like you will buy lews. I have no issues whatsoever with with my Garcia. Anything under 3/8 for me is finesse, which I use my open face spinner on a medium action. I prefer it that way. I get good distance on my Garcia. Are you freespooling or close to it ? I'm throwing straight 12 lb mono on main line. Could it be the line you have spooled ? Makes a big difference. Then again maybe its preference, different personal style of fishing, but I guess money can buy higher grade too. My dad has a quantum which I have used. I still like mine. Hope that helps more than it confuses...lol

Brand new never used Yukon 25 snowshoes. Adjustable bindings, up to men's 11, rated for 200 lbs. Comes with poles and carry bag. Paid $75 plus tax. Yours for $50.
Winter prediction is above average snowfall. Great for ice fishing, trails, hunting, etc. Send a reply and a phone # or I will send mine.

Cellar - OMG... I THOUGHT YOU WERE TRYING BASS FOR LAST TIME....sorry bout that, have to laugh at self for that one
-
The bass masters tourney was won on the north end by KVD on a large flat with thick weeds. Cast into holes with LIGHT weight or weightless finesse worms. Not sure what the depth is, looked somewhat shallow, but might get lucky with a couple catches if they have begun transition to deeper water. If not shallow go deeper.

Awesome info guys ! Jim, is it OK to come visit you tomorrow ?

Oh by the way I live near rt 15/martin rd, just a few miles away.We have been doing well on pike last 3 weeks. Averaging 5 fish or so a trip. All 25" to 33". Have been throwing a Fluke on a 1/2oz jig head for smallies but the pike won't leave it alone. Spinnerbaits also taking fish.

Bosun, thanx much. I like throwing swimbaits too ! Yeah the pike eat anything swimming. I like to throw some lures without a leader but don't want to get bit off either. Hate that ! I may fish deeper just because of that reason.
-
Wow ! That's surprising. Guess the baitfish are still shallow. Think on Monday I'm going to try for smallies. If I can't find them in a couple hrs I will target pike & lrg mouths. They should be midway on the lake points I believe ? Thanks for the tips !Real shallow,4/5fow.

Just curious if you caught yours shallow, less than 15 ft ?I caught some nice pike there two weeks ago. I was told yesterday the docks were out and water low. Guy said he used waders to launch.

Its definitely fall transition and I am fishing later in the year than ever before. I'm targeting bass pike and walleye. If you have a recent report or your experience this time of year on conesus, it will be greatly appreciated. Thanks much !

Welcome ! This is a great site ! I haven't been a member too long, but I have learned some things here and have made several friends as well. I even have been out on other boats as well and had a great time ! There are many opportunities available to be part of bigger things as well. Look around and ask questions. Members here are a great help. Enjoy !

Great job ! Beautiful fish.

Yep. I'm very interested in muskies Inc. I see you guys have tournaments. I also visited the site. Very impressed. Just don't quite have enough tackle/equipment to get real involved. I fish mostly bass Pike and walleye. But one day I would like to join. I read about chattaqua and I just feel so drawn in like I'm missing something special. How spread out are the tourneys and are there many in western ny ? That's all I got for now.

It's been reported that loads of fish have been illegally netted at the lower falls by a large group of people including children. Obviously it's an enforcement & environmental concern.
The other side of it is public health and safety. No body hauls that much fish away to feed their family. It's been noted that it is being sold on the street or out of Chinese restaurants.
If you see something call 911 immediately and a unit will be dispatched or crimestoppers 423-9300 tip# 2k11362

I called dec rpd. If you see something call 911 immediately and Clinton section will dispatch officers. Or call crimestoppers 423-9300 tip #2k11362

Who's to say salmon are the only fish or the run is the only time of year this happens ? People that get away with things tend to expand what they do cuz no one is stopping them. This is why enforcement or organizing is so important.
The "screw it" mentality, or justifying/excusing illegal behavior is as dangerous as the crime itself. If you don't care what happens then why are you on here causing drama?
If you do care why aren't you doing something about it ?
Ever see TV episodes of Asian fish markets illegal selling fish ? This is no different. Same crap. Wouldn't surprise me at all if they are illegal immigrants.
A few years ago in Henrietta a house full of illegal Chinese immigrants, 30 of them, were finally busted and guess where they worked ? Chinese restaurants.

Oh you are so misinformed. NOBODY HAS TO OBEY THE LAW, THEY CHOOSE TO OBEY IT. Because some rich person breaks the law doesn't excuse poor from breaking it. So nobody is claiming a holy status. We are claiming the law. Nobody is excused. Unless your name is Hillary. I'm calling cops now and reporting CL post tooMy point is that we should not be holier than thou. As for breaking the law. When rich people intend to break the law, they change the law to make sure that their crimes become legalized. Poor people do not have that luxury.
But I agree that breaking the law must be punished.

Look up facts of fishing Niagara falls on utube. I'm new to it as well. Pretty cool stuff !

Those didn't come out of Cayuga, it was Cayuta I've tried lots of different small spoons for these eyes and they prefer the small sticks (2"-3") bottom bouncer should work, speed was key last night they wanted it at 2.5 and that was as slow as I could go with the wind. The water was very murky.
Thanks
-
Very nice ! I never targeted walleye and I don't fish Cayuga. Primarily Western finger lakes. I want to fish for them and with temps falling can I find them in shallow water ? What's your opinion on spoons for walleye ? I can troll flat line or bottom bouncer.
-
New to targeting this fish. My first year as a boat owner. Based on what I have read from internet they school up when water temp in the 50's for winter ? Are they schooling up now or transitioning ? How or where do i locate them ? Prefer advice from local anglers, it's more accurate. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Went on Genny ystrday morn. Pulled up on a deep hole with fish and was bit off jigging a spoon. My friend caught a 15-20 lb river King trolling a spoons. Still plenty of boats on the river.Just curious.... seemsd that information should be more readily available these days, Notsomuch, unfortunately.
ave I been missing any important sites\resources?

I was reading about the reservoir and the verbage concerning fishing license was confusing about the entire reservoir. Do I need a PA license as well even if I'm fishing NY side ?
