It’s no wonder why the Bay Rat goby was hot.
We kept 6, 5-8 lb range, boated 9, lost a few others.
The picture of the goby’s is from one fish, packed full.

Looking good.
I wondered if you were there when I docked midday but didn't want to start yelling "Hey Doc", especially with the current climate in the country.
I was pulling out the White Wellcraft with the dark green pickup around noon.
Found salmon until the sun burned through then had a good time with this Northern. First one I've caught on Cayuga.
Damn, I wish you said something! There was a lot of boats coming out at that time. anyway that is a beautiful rig! I actually was commenting on it to my buddy when we were leaving. Great pike! great job!

Fun weekend. We boated well over 60 in 2 days, hits were over 80+ probably pushing 100. I have 48 releases, had to pull a board in both days to reload, ran out by 10 am. Lots of 16-17” salmon. All salmon except 5 browns today, biggest was 7.11lbs. Kept a bunch both days for the smoker. Triple to start the day today, when we finally got 4 rods set, could not keep em in the water. Off the water both days by noon. SKINNY WATER!

Beautiful Fish! Going to make the drive from Rochester this Saturday. Will be my first time fishing Cayuga. Planning on launching a small boat out of Taughannock. Any recommendations on going north or south from the launch? I'll try staying shallow based on your guys success!

Nice catch, and with all those hits/catches certainly loads of fun with constant action!
If memory serves, you were boxing out with Browns and Pike this time last year. Have you changed techniques or is the lake fished out of Browns and Pike?!
I will gladly send you a pm Reel Doc.... too many trolls, haters and jealousy on here....

Last I knew the ramp/launch was tore up.... they are rebuilding it.... closed it Jan.6th... I drove down there about 2.5 weeks ago and it was still under construction....

Late night working with the horses so didn't get on the water until after 8. Went out of Taughannock and focused on running stickbaits off a big board in shallow water. Never tried this before but with the new autopilot working I was relying on it to keep the boat from getting grounded.
Well, it worked out as while setting the first line it was barely 50 feet behind the boat and the first salmon of the day slammed it.
Ran Bay Rats in greens and blacks in 20fow or less and 20 minutes after the first had a double. The second fish was a good one as the drag was singing but unfortunately was gone before I got to it. Did half a dozen circles around the hot spot and pulled in fish every time, some nice salmon and a couple sturdy lake trout. One of the salmon had a big lamprey mark, first one I've seen on a Cayuga fish in quite a while. Hoping it was a rare find.
The sun came out around 10:30 and the bite shut off but already had plenty for dinner, released a few, and made it home by noon so could enjoy a nice afternoon with my wife. A perfect Sunday all the way around!!
Nice! We had a decent morning too, went 17 for 26, all salmon except 2 rainbows. A lot of short hits. Kept 7, all in the skinny water as well.

Comon Cinnamon, state owned. Not a top priority for king cuomo ... just sayin. I’m just grateful the bubbler is on all winter.

Anyone know if it is clear?Thank You
They have been great about keeping it open. Not sure as of yesterday’s snowfall. I have not had a problem over the last month as I have been out 5 times so far. I will be launching there 7 am tomorrow. I can pm you an update tomorrow....

The sad part is that the pike are likely native to our waters while the browns, the rainbows, and the salmon were all introduced. Depends upon what you call a nuisance.
When they bite off about $50 worth of lures each time out=nuisance lol

Am i reading that that right , salmon and browns down 2 to 10 ft thought they would be deeper but with the cold water temps they could be just about anywhere just didn't expect them to be that shallow
Always on top this time of year. And yes you’re right, with water temperatures cold they could be anywhere but I always focus on top now. Surface temp varied from 32.5-34.5. Last Sunday (5th time out in last 2 weeks) was a ****ty day. Only boated about 12 fish, mixed bag, kept just a few. Lost a couple 7-8+ lb browns at the boat and some nuisance pike. Ran a 10 rod spread. Disappointed. It was better two weeks ago. Hopefully it will pick up again soon.

Hey Doc.....nice going. Beautiful browns. No need to tell me any secrets, but I assume you use standard stickbaits that go down 3to 10 ft. Correct?

Me too. Anybody with ideas on how to break up the ice I'm willing to help...
I chopped it out myself on Sunday 2/3. Only took me 30 minutes. Been out 4 times since. Fishing good if you don’t mind catching lake trout or ‘lake carp’ as i call them. The browns mixed in have been good ones tho. No complaints on the number of fish we are catching.

I think you're on to something..... I see this about the launches where there is an attendant to take $$.... not the launches where there are no attendants.
