It’s been a slow start to the season. About 10 o’clock this morning I had three coyotes come in together. I took out the first one but couldn’t get a shot on the other two. Never recovered the Coyote but the shot was a full bloody pass through and it ran into the swamp. Apparently I still have at least another two to take out. I am looking for some accurate knowledge of nuisance tags. I did my last round of camera checks last night with my 2 young boys. As we wrapped up in the woods and cam out around the orchard I was startled by a “hunter” posted up with a rifle pointing down the lane way. I know he was legal in his was but the safety of him shooting down the hill where I just came from was a big concern. How are nuisance tags handed out? Quantity, legal hours and dates of use? Can they use lights at night? Does the hunter need to be registered on the permit? Doe only? Any info is welcome. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

Well last years hunting season was a great success for me. Unfortunately this year isn’t starting so well. The spot I hunt in Bristol where I took my bow buck last year, we lost our entire food plot. Three weeks back, the farmer north of us had 4 cows get out and they decimated the plot in 2 days. This is a first. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

I tried using a decoy two years back. I had some younger bucks circle it quite interested but confused. The does seem to be very timid of it and strayed away from it. It did help stop a coyote dead in its tracks for me to take him with my bow. I didn’t have any experience with mature bucks with it however. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

I wrapped up my first season of coyote hunting. It was a good year with learning and calling in some dogs and fox. I was lucky to have shot one coyote. I hunted sat afternoon with my wife and only managed to call in 4 crows. (since she has enjoyed going out there so much.... she is encouraging me to go out and buy better products for next season) The fresh dog tracks dried up considerably out there also but they still move the area. Got out again from sunset to 12:30 with a buddy last night. Very quiet on the yote end but pulled something to the field edge that would never commit and also had one fox charge in on the caller. Nice job to everyone out there And thank you for advice given. Hoping somebody post on more coyote before the season closes.

I got out tonight for 5 sets. Very minimal snow here, some spots didn’t even have snow cover on the ground. Had dogs respond on first 2 sets but to never draw them out of the wood line. I was running a grieving grey fox call and had one come through the woods barking till it got close to the fields edge and then nothing. Anybody ever have them come in in similar fashion. Sounded more like a deeper bark verse a yip. Last set we had 4 different fox come running in. You guys are spot on that fox did not care about the lights beaming on them. Good fun night with nothing to show for it though.

My wife has really been wanting to Come coyote hunting with me. So why do dinner and movies when you can bring her coyote hunting for date night. Being new to coyote hunting this season, I brought her out to where I do most my deer hunting as I know that spot is too coyote rich. I let her do the fox pro caller..... and she called me in my first coyote while actually coyote hunting. Unfortunately the drag out through 12” snow and nearly 8/10 of a mile Up hill dragging was not fun but she help the whole way. I’ve enjoyed everyone’s pictures and success and am glad i proved my first success. I have called a few coyotes into 30 yards unfortunately some of those areas I am hunting have to use a bow.

I think it’s great Von can trap that many dogs year after year. I would love to have the time as well as that skill set. I would bet though using the same trap lines year after year would yield many juvenile dogs. Similar to many areas where brown and down exist heavily. The animals never reach their full potential. Similarly I seem to hunt a class of 110-120 bucks..... 10 miles down the road they seem to get 140 class minimum with crazy 14-16pt deer that I never see. Dont dispute Facts just because you have never been shown a large dog. But if you have any advice from Von that would help me improve my coyote hunting success... I would be more than willing to listen and would be appreciative of it.

Lol, OK we will try this picture. This coyote was actually prowling my buddies dog in Bristol last season where I shot my buck earlier this bow season. His pet dog was whining at the door to come in with its tail between its legs. This coyote was 70 yards out in the field just staring his dog down. This male did weigh 62lbs.

I went Out this morning. Tried a bunch of different calls but nothing pulled anything in. Visibility was very low due to 3” of snow on branches. On the bright side their was dog tracks absolutely all over. Mainly single tracks, no groups. Apparently being out after the snow stopped last night would have been Great.
