When I got around the 31/32 line I had about 5 boats around me (between Sandy/Braddocks). Most of the guys I fish around were expecting the offshore bite today. Personally once we break into August I rarely fish the inside. I’ll stay offshore now pretty much till Hunting season starts.
Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario UnitedDo you start offshore and stay out there? Or do you start shallower and work out?

Great job. We were out there from 630-12pm. Couldn't even manage a release fishing from 70-200 and back.
-
Great question, I've noticed that too and wondered the same thing.

Same spot as yesterday. Started with the same setup. Why change what worked awesome yesterday? We got all six rods in and sat for ten minutes, Mag Carbon 14 takes a hit and three minutes later it spit the hook. I looked at my buddy and said, "that is not a good omen". Boy was I correct. I lost three fish and my buddy lost three fish (last year he an I only lost ONE). Only one was a break off and only one other wrapped the diver wire and got free. We lost fish from the fly, from each of our six lines.
We went 3 for 10! All were solid hookups and fights of at least three minutes. I checked all the hooks (no issues). The one that "broke the camel's back" was when we had to pull five lines to prevent being spooled. My buddy's 13 year old fought it for 20 minutes then handed the rod off to his dad. It was straight down. We got the fish to within ten feet of the boat AND 45 FEET STRAIGHT DOWN! Eight minutes later, with the dad still holding the rod and not gaining, the line went limp. We were all devastated and nobody said or did anything for three minutes, then I looked at my buddy and started setting up a rigger and we went back at it.
Three for ten in the same spots just couldn't get them to the boat. The only color change we made two hours in (due to the overcast conditions) was to take off the two froggy green spoons and swap one for purple and silver and the other to black with purple and white back. Both took hits.
Hoping to be back at it for an evening troll next week Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday.
Temperature break where we were is down 90 feet (45 degrees). When we "strayed" off path, the temps were all over the place (57 degrees down 89 feet).
You defiantly need a pair of fish flops on the boat to get rid of that bad mojo.

This is my first year slipping my new (to me) boat in Braddocks. I have to trim a very good way up or my skeg drags bottom. I don't know how some of the boats are flying through there and out the channel. Am I missing something? Any ideas when it will be time to pull out of there due to low water?

Nice job. I was out there with ya today. Was a nice day.
Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario UnitedFinally a nice easy day to dock the boat instead of having 15-20mph wind at my back every time!

Went 5 for 5 , 3 kings and 2 lakers. Biggest king was 20#, hit 90' down over 150' on a meat rig. Meat took 3 fish today, flasher fly on a dispy took one, and a dark green spotted black spoon took the last.
Good water all over the place, felt nice to actually hook into some kings on the new boat.
Fish flops were not needed today, however there may have been a good 4 minute Irish Jig done on the dog house when this song came on -
Now I'm not saying that this is the reason we caught the big king, but I don't have enough data to rule it out either. To be safe, if you hear something like this come on, you should probably dance a jig - just in case.
The Magma table works great - bit small for a decent fish, but it got the job done!

I noticed the guy holding the nicer fish is sans fish flops. Just sayin'. 😁
We went a good stretch with nothing happening so desperate measures ensued- his fish flop boogie dance was better than mine (at that point we were trying anything) - I attribute the bigger fish to that.
-
Great catch! - Question for you - how do you decide when it's worth fishing the inside vs the outside? We always decide to turn back around 250' after not seeing anything. Just a gut feeling?
-
Lots of marks at 180-220 FOW early on around 100' down, some higher, some lower. Trolled out to 260, dead screen from 220 out.
Went 2/3 one small king (coho?) in that 180 FOW range, and one laker as I was reeling in the last rod of the day. That was a surprise
After 2-3 hours of no bites I broke out the fish flops and did a fish flop dance on the dog house. I'm not going to say that's how I got that lucky laker at the end, but I'm not ruling it out either.

We picked up one at 180. Dead screen out to 280. Headed back in now

Braddocks is setting up nicely.
Had an hour this morning and had a screamer hit a dipsy pulling a spinny fly back 300 over 140. Ran 400 feet and came unbuttoned.
Went back for an hour at 5 this evening and hit an 8lb bow right off the jump on a spinny fly back 250.
Starting to see bait and some big hooks.
Out in the am with the same crew (wife and son Billy’s puppy) hoping to get to fish for a few hours.

Those are hilarious! Where can I get a pair for my brother? Glad you guys hooked some nice fish, and thanks for the report.
My mother in law got them for me - not sure where they are from. New people on the boat have to wear them now
-
Left the dock at 730 - fished til 1:30. Had to break the bad banana karma off the boat from last trip so I made my brother wear the fish flops. Sure enough not too long after we landed a 24" steelie and coho. Lost one more. Slow day, not alot of marks (lots of bait and marks 80-100 FOW) but no takers for me at least.
100-250 fow, - our two came at around 160 FOW 40-60 down. 52 degree water was almost 80' down at some spots.
Did try the new gambler rigs I bought for an hour or so, but no takers, we called it quits early - the flies were so bad. The love the fish flops too.

You won't find anything better on the market for lakers than the Gambler products
Where to buy them?

I'm selling 2

What downspeed are you guys running to target lakers?

Went out today at Braddocks from 8-1pm. 150-250 not a single mark. Went back to 100fow saw a bunch of hooks - no big bait balls like the other day. Not a single rod went off. Brother brought a banana on the boat. I kicked him off and he ate it before we left - but the damage had been done. Dumb ass.

We went out of Braddocks from 6-12. Went 2 for 4. One keeper king and one big laker. Lots of marks from 120-180 early, then really quiet screen after 10am. Both good runs came from dipsies out 180' over 180 FOW. Laker did laker stuff.
Bite turned off after 10am.
