  1. I'd say get some good gear. Though I've yet to catch one, what I can inform on is just the resistance of the lures will destroy common stuff. Ive stripped out gears on bass reels, ended up buying a Calcutta 400B, then my heavy flippin stick that I thought I could get by with started falling apart. I can feel the reel seat warping and the handle disintegrating due to flexing, ended up with a chaos tackle rod thats en route now, and thats all before getting a bite... but I can only imagine the sickening feeling of getting one on to have all your equipment give out. Never know, that first one could be a 50. Other than that? Prepare for your casting thumb to be quite calloused lol. Sent from my SM-G955U using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  2. Ifish, thanks. Just trying to be the best I can be, in whatever endeavor i'm involved in. However, if ya can't laugh at yourself along the way, what fun is it? There's a certain amount of humour in this one for sure. Especially 2 Pollacks fighting Waneta whitecaps in a leaky 12' jon boat with a 2 horse! On that note... struck out again today, as did the nephew. Still no follows from what I can tell, water was pretty churned up though. 66 degrees pretty steady for the short time we had to fish (8-10:30). Went up the east side again. Seems like all the activity on the graph is deep. Probably where the efforts will be focused. Do have some new gear on the way since I could feel my cheapo rod coming apart, so purchased a Chaos Tackle 9' Mh and a new bait or two. Maybe that'll come with some luck? And on that note, thank you all for your tips and luck sent my way. It's greatly appreciated, and as soon as I connect, come hell...since we already have high water... there will be pics posted! 3. Update: fished today from dawn to about 10:30. South end and up the west side. Still no follows. Looks like algae may have bloomed, lots of particles in the water. 68-70 degree water. Great looking water, just nothing raised. My brother struck out on the bass as well. Few other anglers said they havent had much either. Lake in a transition? Try again tomorrow morning. Shall not be deterred!!! Sent from my SM-G955U using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  4. On a quest to get a muskie this year. Thought I'd post here as a bit of an online journal. Made it out today from about 8:30am to noon. Fished boy scout camp north to no avail. Third time out this year and not even a follow, throwing bucktails, spinnerbaits, and cranks. Maybe pick up a few glide baits of some sort? Mid to upper 60's for surface temp. Hmm... off to ponder. 5. Penn Yan launch should be good to go. Haven't launched myself to see how the channel is but been to the launch as of a week ago, docks are there and all seems open. Saw one truck and trailer parked. Sent from my SM-G955U using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  6. Damn. Had half a mind to try it myself. Seneca has been a bust, at least for my casting game. Never fished Keuka much in open water season, but think this year is the year to start. Sent from my SM-G955U using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  7. They look gorgeous! As do the rest of what I've seen from you on here. Not too far away so i will be contacting you hopefully in a week or two about grabbing some. Sent from my SM-G955U using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  9. Indeed, Esox. Unfortunately ran into some hang ups and he was unable to join. Still, made it out solo for about and hour and a half. Messed up location, short on time, no system or routine for drilling and deploying.... it was a mess on an outing. But fun nonetheless . Had one hit jigging but missed it, nothing else. Shall try again in the AM now that things are a little less scrambled lol. Old man might join if hes available, and if we hit fish hoping to get my little man out after he's out of school. 10. Hoping for some Lakers tomorrow on Keuka. Ain't been out ice fishing since i was a wee lad 20 years ago... but got a good deal on an auger. Gave the old man a ring and boom, trip planned, yesteryears tackle dug out and gone over, and hopes up high lol. Good site here, LOU. Thanks to all who share. \M/ Sent from my SM-G955U using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  11. Ive been in their shop a few times when salmon are close to the piers. So far nothing negative to say, so I would definitely recommend them. Small shop but packed full of goodies, and the people have been good to me. Sent from my SM-G955U using Lake Ontario United mobile app
