No idea if it would be applicable as I have no experience trolling, but weed catchers arrived in the muskie scene not too long ago. I believe I saw Doug Wegner has one available for purchase. Might be a few other manufacturers by more as well. Sent from my SM-G955U using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Newborn at home and a shoulder injury has kept the trips few and far between, on top of being short. But I have managed one 36" fish boated, but more follows than the last three years combined. So pretty positive when I stop to think about it. Sent from my SM-G955U using Lake Ontario United mobile app

My nephew had the same thing happen on a big ol' buck he'd hunted an entire season for. Made him switch to fixed a few years back, and he pointed me to the G5's this year. My old Magnatech needed an overhaul this year (strings, arrows, tune), and if things go accordingly, I'll be putting in for elk and moosefor 2021 seasons and beyond, so that was the final call for switching to fixed. I know people do, but doesn't seem right to throw a mechanical at something that big. Bows now "overgunned" for whitetail but I should be good and used to it if those dream tags make their way to my pocket. Good luck to you all! Tried Genesee pier tonight for a brief trip, one bump but not sure of it was a short strike or fish contacting the mainline, assuming the latter. Another guy reported he had a small one on but lost it. Pretty slow from the sounds of it but there are fish there. On the upswing! Sent from my SM-G955U using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Time and place to find musky
Aspiring_Pollack replied to Dan P's topic in Musky, Tiger Musky & Pike (ESOX)
I fish Waneta, mostly because I'm only 15 minutes away. Small lake, so you know they are there and your lures are getting seen, but it gets hammered hard. I used to think the bass got hit hard until i learned to distinguish muskie vs bass anglers. I would say most of fishing is for muskie. Lots of pleasure boaters and jet skis as well. BUT, the fish are there... this is only my second season targeting skis with 4 total caught so I wont try to say I know what works and what doesn't. But I see a lot of trollers. Weeds are heavy this year, and you have weeds and a couple points to target basically. Best of luck wherever you go! Sent from my SM-G955U using Lake Ontario United mobile app -

From my understanding, it's a result of alewifes as prey. It causes a Thiamine deficiency which affects the eggs. I thought it just made them soft so the eggs never hatch, but would not surprise me to see it manifest in several forms. Thats about the extent of my knowledge on it though. Found these swimming around a discharge on Seneca with some carp. I know in the Hardwater thread theres mention of Rudd, but I have always seen them gold colored. Anal fin looks to be a bit different as well. Other than that though it just looks like a huge shiner minnow. Thoughts? Sent from my SM-G955U using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Seneca lake getting better?
Aspiring_Pollack replied to Fishbowl836's topic in Finger Lakes Discussion
In regards to the overall fishery, I made it out on the 31st and was able to get a handful of dandy pike. What was the exciting though was they were all fat and clean, really healthy fish. Usually any fish out of Seneca that I get are skinny and covered in wounds of some sort, regardless of species. Kinda got my hopes up for the lake making a turn for the better in the near future.
