  1. Thanks guys, yeah I'm prayin for good ice. Just blew my Runnings gift cards on an Eskimo Quikfish 2 last night, really hoping to use it.
  2. It was never my intention to upset anyone or key in any perch pirates on the lake or any specific spots on it. To me, it was just another fishing video. I've mostly fished big water (ocean, great lakes) all my life, so I guess I wasnt really in tune with the idea that it could hurt the fishery. I didnt know that there was such an issue with perch over harvest in the finger lakes. I'm a local now too, I live in the Rochester area, but I didnt grow up here, and i only started fishing the finger lakes about 5 years ago. I definitely dont want to see any stocks depleted, or lose any fishing opportunities for future generations. I started a Youtube Channel for a few reasons: My kids thought it was a cool idea and I'm trying to get them more into the outdoors, I get a kick out of making the videos, and I actually find the videos really helpful myself when I'm looking to try a new area, or a different type of fishing. I'm heading to George's Bank to go Cod and Haddock fishing for 2 days next weekend, so I've been watching tons of other peoples videos on how to tie rigs, teasers, presentations etc. The videos have allowed me to be prepared for a new type of fishing I'm not really familiar with. I also hope that if I can get enough subscribers, I'll be able to make like 10 dollars a day in 20 years when I can retire, if I live that long lol... That should give me enough gas money to fuel an old conversion van so I can travel up and down the east coast all year to wherever the surf bite is best. I will try to be more careful in the future on showing sensitive fishing spots.
  3. In all seriousness though, one pro member was decent enough to PM me and explain the issue. Apparently, there is a big problem in the Finger Lakes with over harvesting and black market sale of Yellow Perch that I was unaware of. Hence the uproar by locals over the video. I understand their point of view and concern over this issue, but the response and the dropping of the video with no explanation was pretty disappointing. It's too bad that's the way it has to be, but i guess that's the way it has to be.
  4. It took the salty Canandaigua boys 20 minutes to get a mod to drop it lol, I was a little disappointed in the response time.
  5. Fished all day today on the south end of Canandaigua for perch and only caught 2 rock bass. If you're looking for perch, go to Lake Erie. #drinkingthekoolaid
  6. I also have a Garmin and I love it. I think it might be an ETREK, it has a color display. For fishing though I mostly use my phone now with the Fishing Points app. It's a great app, and for a few bucks a year you can get the premium version. It basically turns your phone into a handheld GPS, and it also gives you access to tide and weather forecast data.
  7. It's not uncommon to see trout with malformed eggs. Typically, they will look watery or have a white spot on them. Often, only a portion of the eggs will be affected. I personally have never seen black collapsed eggs like those in your picture. I would love to see a close up of those, the picture gets fuzzy when I zoom in. Some fish also have issues dropping or reabsorbing old eggs, and this condition can even lead to the death of the fish.
  8. Agreed, wire or braid will get you more bites. I run the wire or braid straight to the dipsy though, with 5 to 6 feet of 30 lb. mono from the dipsy to your spoon or flasher. Dipsys are a double edged sword though imo. I think on alot of days they shut down your outside riggers. Many days my out and downs were quiet until I pulled my dipsy rods, then they started taking bites. Sometimes less is more I think, so if the dipsys aren't taking bites, I'm quick to pull them.
  9. Hey all, recently started up a Youtube Fishing Channel "Slack High Sportfishing". Going to have videos on both fresh and saltwater fishing with an emphasis on teaching people how to catch more and bigger fish. Believe me, I dont think I know everything, just a guy who spends a ton of time on the water and loves to fish. Already have several videos up, but there will be much more to come. I'm in the Rochester area, so I'm planning on having a ton of Lake Ontario area content. Everything from big lake trolling and jigging, to pier and trib techniques, to ice fishing. Please consider checking out my channel and subscribing. Links below. Thanks much. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC0neUpbqbpXvXevYuKg-bng
