I have had this problem with my black & decker automatic charger a few times on very low or dead batteries. hooked the charger up and it read bad battery. put the battery in  my truck and ran it for about 15 minutes and problem solved. once the battery has charged take it to any auto parts store and have it tested so you know for sure its good.

I am not a mechanic, but if the battery is stone dead I dont think this is good for your alternator.

  2. I agree it is a tough situation, but go take a drive around.  I have been in my house working from home for a week and a half, left the house to pick up a couple of things and you would think nothing was going on. Cars and people all over everywhere.  Frankly in this situation the people showing up for their fun charter like nothing is going on are the ones mostly at fault.  I am not going to criticize someone trying to make a living.

  3. You really cant do much but hope.  I would certainly ask the people that if they have been in contact with anyone that could have had the virus to cancel.  Some people have little to no symptoms and the virus can be transmitted prior to the symptoms beginning to show.  I would be vigilant about cleaning the boat and the gear.  If you hunt and have an ozonics you may want to run that somewhere up high in the boat if it can be enclosed.

Any jump box you would carry in your car...hook it up for a few minutes then unhook and plug in your onboard charger.... pretty good idea to have a jump box...I bought one for each vehicle and for the kids with an air compressor and USB chargers and power inverters for under $150 each I think

Ahh, you werent suggesting plugging them both in at the same time.

A jump box will "get your charger started".  Most all digital battery chargers must read voltage across the terminals before they will turn on...a booster feature will work though

Good point, I have 1 I keep in the boat in case my batteries fail so I can at least get the motor started.  Didnt think of using that to boost the voltage so the charger would pick it up.  You dont thinkl that might cause a problem with the fuse?

You can buy them in home depot or walmart actually.  Mine is a schumacher and was around 100 bucks.

  6. If your battery is run wwwaaaayyy down try adding a regular charger to it to charge it to a level where the digital charger doesnt think the battery is bad.  Some of the digital chargers will not charge a battery that is below a certain point.  If it was me I would pull the battery take it home and put it on a charger overnight.  Then go back with that battery and another known good battery(if you dont have one maybe you could pull one out of a vehicle) .  Hook up the old one, if it works great, if it doesnt then hook up the second battery to see if you get the same result.  Hopefully it works for you but if it doesnt you then will know if its the battery or the charger.

I think that the stay put advice is given to prevent people from unwittingly transporting the virus over long distances, like driving from Pennsylvania to Sandy Pond. As for Lakers, the 17 to 19 inch ones taste fine , the big ones in Lake Ontario are a lot oilier and probably loaded with PCBs because of their age. Besides, you do not want any lakers on the floor of your boat if you have carpets

Perhaps, although I think it is more likely to keep people from congregating in large groups and events locally.  Restaraunts, bars , work.  You already have truck drivers all over the US stopping at every gas station and rest area(that is open).  I think that is more of a threat than a guy pulling his boat from 1 house to another.  And honestly, I dont have carpet and dont like lakers hitting the deck somebody is likely to fall on their butt!

I eat Lakers. Growing up dad pulled copper in various Adirondack lakes and they are delicious. Out of Lake O I will only smoke them though, mainly due to the sheer size we get there. The dacks lakers we always just a bit bigger than legal.

I am not a good judge as I like almost no fish.  Everything gets thrown back for another day unless it is clear it isnt going to make it.  Then into the deadwell. I have a few guys that love anything I bring back.  Never fished any of the adirondack lakes, it is certainly beautiful country.

  9. Yeah my yard work is all done early!  I am now considering going up to the cottage and getting all the spring prep completed.  Boat is still in storage and I was looking forward to trying for some browns for the first time as I always seem to be busy in the spring.  Maybe this will be the year.

Threw $200 of fuel in the boat. Charging the batteries now.
May have to go wash some lures soon.
Jr wants to go in the am. Tried to tell him temps in the 20’s and northeast wind at 13 won’t be pleasant but lord knows he knows a lot more about this than I do.

Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

Enjoy it while you still can! I love fishing with my dad and there will come a time when you can no longer make those memories.

If you think things are bad, just wait till next year. The crew running Washington now are creating such deficits now while they are in office, Washington will be bankrupt for the next twenty years and the next crew will be impotent.

This administration is certainly adding to it at this point, but we have seen this in the past.  the last administration during 2010-2012 added ~3.9 trillion.  It'll turn around eventually but I wouldn't be waiting for any tax cuts.
