If you're gonna put one on a turret I'd 100% recommend the "saltwater" version which has greater distance

It's cool technology, but I think it's overhyped for what we do. Unless you put these transducers on a turret system you will only be monitoring a few downriggers. Lets say a typical spread is 2 riggers, 2 divers, and 2 junk lines. You're spending a lot of money to see what fish are doing in 33% of your spread. When you go to a boat who is running 3 riggers, 4 divers, and 3 junk lines now you're looking at 30% of your spread. My honest opinion is if you have the money to spend it may help you understand fish behavior day to day. Other than that it's a novelty item. However, I have heard what chowder mentioned above where it will show fish in your spread the traditional transducer isn't showing.

That being said, if you want to splurge the PS30 is the way to go on the transom. I sell a lot of them, so reach out if you want one.

American Fishing wire has been my latest favorite in 30 and 40 lb wire. Morgan Copper and  torpedo weighted steel are the most user friendly junk lines IMO. 

How long have you been running Morgan copper for? I was thinking about trying some.

Most guys run 8-10'6" rods for divers. It's all personal preference. FishUSA makes two great wire divers choices in their Flagship trolling rod line-up. We've run them for a season and they are nice. Click here to see them

Monofilament would be much cheaper unless you're looking to run a dipsey diver. 900' should be fine.

I use it every time I'm out. I love my Fish Hawk on my downrigger, but for divers and other junk lines it's great to know where they are fishing. If you don't mind clicking here if you order one it'll let him know where the sales are coming from.

There are two tracks on either side of the boat. I will measure them this weekend, but I think they are 36" tracks.

We run our Cannon downriggers in a track with a 4" pedestal on our Lund. I run them on a 45* angle from the boat and don't extend the booms. Most of the time I'm shallow water fishing with these and running 10 or 12lb Sharks. On occasion I have run 15lb weights. It doesn't flex the gunnels this way. If you have access to put in a backer plate it's always a good idea.

I'll run 12 this weekend on my charter. On each side, mind you I'm in a 20' aluminum boat, I'll have 4 in-lines, a diver, and a rigger.

Most we've ever had on at one time was 5, but we've cleared 10 rod spreads before everything was said and done.

GREAT color. Found some in Bay Rat and run them often.

Can we get back to no rod limits when trolling Lake Ontario?

I heard of this coming. The reason behind this method is to help with neck fatigue looking down at a screen.

Everyone's definition of sport is different and probably has a lot to do with what you had growing up. This new generation of fisherman grew up in the video game world. These electronics make you more efficient on the water. Time is a valuable thing these days. On the other hand learning these new electronics is way more time consuming than using traditional sonar.

I don't particularly buy into the "Stealth" deal with FishUSA's Stealthcore. I ran a few different brands in the past and had issues with durability. I finally settled on Suffix, which is a great choice as well. However, their colors were obnoxiously bright. I tried the Stealthcore becasue a friend asked me to. The durability has been great, so I have stuck with it. The claim that it is "stealthier" can't hurt I guess.

That's a great question I don't have the answer to.

I would put the Cannon Dual Axis Downrigger Mount rod holders under those downriggers and use them.

I'm an American Fishing Wire fan. It's the thinnest 30lb 7 stand wire on the market, so dive curve is better. One thing to keep in mind is after some use if you let it get loose it will want to curl and potentially kink. I keep my wire taught at all times. Just something to keep in the back of your mind.

Another vote for FishUSA Stealthcore. Been running it for many years with no issues.

To me it comes down to why are you fishing ? For most it's mostly C+R . It supposed to be sport fishing . Some days you get them ,some you don't . I see pier guys with 3 rods stretch out for perch or whatever . So now 4 , or 10 . It's one in the LO tribs past the first bridge . I can't imagine it being more . 

 

Southern bass lake are getting ruined with the electronic and boat and bait advancement . I don't want that here.

There is no evidence of electronic, boat, or bait advancement hurting any southern bass lakes. Mainly, it's the older generation putting up a stink becasue they don't want to spend the money to purchase the new tech, or they simply don't want to move away from their ways of how to catch a fish. If anything, electronics are allowing people to take pressure off the "normal" fishing spots and target fish that were never targeted before. It's teaching people facts about fish behavior rather than the opinions of a few that were written about in various publications.

Crappie guys for many years have been spider rigging southern and mid west lakes and I haven't seen anyone complain about that. I'd assume becasue there is a respect for the fish and a limit in place for the fisherman on how many they can keep.

In todays world with so much competition in "other things" to grab peoples free time why not allow people to go out and be more successful on the water?

Other than your opinion, which I respect and I'm willing to debate with you on, you have provided no real reason for having a rod limit in place.

Rod limits make no sense to me. If you have a creel limits set in place for what reason does a rod limit exist? Anglers got the state to go from 2 to 3 many years ago, but it should have been 2 to infinity in my opinion.
