  1. Great tournament guys! I never weighed in becasue i knew of two great boxes. So, we stayed out and derby fished. There must have been some good fish in front and to the east of Oswego. There wasnt jack in front of FH.

We ended the day with 2 10lb steelhead, 20lb king, 15lb king, 10lb king. We had about a 110 day give or take a few points. 10 color took 2, 500 copper took one and the others were wire bites.

This is a vrey fun tourney! I would reccomend it to anyone in LO. I am, however, getting sick of them dang PA Screamer guys! Dont you guys ever let up?

  2. Dude I cant believe you were out there in that stuff Saturday morning! WE went out to like 50' and turned around when we took like 3 waves over the bow. Joe called me and was like if Reeljerks is out here why arent you? I was like casue breakfast taste good right now!

  3. Set lines around 6am and fished till 1:30ish. We ended the day 15 for 21 with only two of those fish being something other than a King. We tossed back a 9lb rainbow and weighed in an 11ln Laker. Big guy of the day as an ounce shy of 25lbs which took a white chip and a white ATOMIK fly off the 500 copper. Green and white were the colors today. Any fly with green in it worked. Only two spoon bites (Froggy Super Slim and a Mullato Spook 28) and that was first thing in the morning. Our hot paddle while the sun was still tucked away was the Slippery Frog Spin Doctor with a mirage fly. Amazingly enough the Hammer fly didn't produce more than one hit today! Wires were out 300-325 on a 1 setting, coppers were 500 and 600 feet, riggers 100-140 down. 200-300 was the best area we found.

  4. First off I lost one fish to your many! Loosing a dipsey fish wasnt my fault! The fish wasnt hooked good. I know this becasue he sent me an e-mail later that night. As for not fishing it....if you could use some vaca time to practice that wouldnt have happened! The cooler fish was a fluke. It never happened before and it wont happen ever again.

Fact is, and you can ask the other teammates, you cant fight fish! LOL

  5. OK guys! I know it might be hard to believe but the Smallmouth fishing this year as been INSANE out there. Im tellin ya the truth. Gobies havent killed it as much as you think and VHS has done damage but not enough to hurt anything (yet). Hedges is pretty much washed up. A lot of pressure day in and day out. I have always done much better (size and quantity) heading east of Hedges.

This Spring we had a blast off of Hegdges in shallow waters. All sorts of fish swimmin around and you could see them.

A few weeks ago some friends went out to Hughes and smoked the smallmouth ranging from 12" to close to 4lbs. He brought in a sack of 13lbs of fish. Thats a 2.5lb average. You wont see the 5-6lb smallies like you do in Erie (for some reason) especially on the south shore. Once you get up by henderson you will see more 4-5lb fish.

We had a bass tourney on Irondequoit Sunday. I headed west to fish the Largemouth in Braddocks. A friend of mine went East to head over to Sodus. Half way there he stopped in front of Hughes marina b/c he had gotten some nice smallies there a few weeks ago. Well throughout the 6 hour tournament his boat caught over 100 smallies and he never caught a goby! He fished 15-20 fow with Lucky Craft pointers (these are jerkbaits). Fishing them with rapid twitches of the rod and then a pause. He also took many fishon drop-shotting soft plastics. He said the closer he got to Sodus the better it was.

  6. What a heck of a day! From watching the reports all week and not seeing a solid report I was worried we might have a tough day ahead of us. The day started off with a nice 10lb Brownie and then the Kings came to play. Everything I put in the water today went. We started off this morning in 40-60 fow between Braddock's point and Lighthouse point. Fish and bait were everywhere, and cold water was in. First King took a Copper NBK off the rigger 60 back 25 down (18lbs). Then the wire went with a coyote 28 on a 2.5 setting 50 back (lost it). A short while later the 10 color took off with a Stinger Gin and Juice. Foul hooked 15 lb Salmon that took too long to bring in. The warm water moved in so we headed out to that 90-110 and started to pick up more kings between 60-90 down. Copper NBKs were the best spoon today. Other lures that fired were the ATOMIK Coyote fly (a fly I asked Tom Allen to tie up for me and this was my first time running it), Stinger green dolphin in an alewife pattern took the big guy today 80 down 50 back (24lbs). The copper was the last to fire out 450 with a Trash Can/Green dodger and an ATOMIK crinkle green with some mirage in it. During a few of the king battles we hooked up with some steelies in the 4-6lb range. All n all we ended the day 8-10 and green was the color for the most part. Also, we hit the LO grand slam with a brownie, laker, salmon, and a steelie. It seemed like the kings wanted a super slim or the small stingers today.

  7. Hey Jax.....you may of caught more on your side, but the bigger ones came off mine! IF you would have payed attention you might have caught something I was doing differently. By the way you dont win tourneys on numbers, but you do on bigger fish!

  8. Gotta bite - WE put two 30lb Salmon in the boat last year (One JUly 4th weekend and one Labor day weekend). The one JUly fourth weekend took a pink glow squid. I finally found some more of these in the last few weeks and I plan on running them in the next few weeks. Another thing you can do with squids is put them through your j-plug instead of the hook harness.
