  1. 5/4 - Ran to the Welland and managed a 12lb king on a slide diver with a black/gold bomber. Another King around 15 on a "Yankee Troller/Billy V" Hammer Time. Small coho off the top and a couple of lakers later on in the day. Very SLOW, and very COLD!

5/5 - Ran to am area on the Canadian side that looked like it was holding Kings, but after 3 minutes of trolling we figured out they were Lakers. Ended the say with 15 bites and only 2 were coho. ALL LAKERS and I tossed a 17lb'er back in the drink. OWuld of been in top 10 with it.

5/6 - Wasnt too happy to get out this morning and it showed with the poorest performance of the weekend. 2 bited/2 lakers

  2. 4/27 - got on the water around 5 and fished till 7:30. Boated 4 SM and 1 Brown Trout on Bandit 300 series crankbaits. All the SM were 1-1.5lbs.

4/28 - on the wtaer at sun up and off we went to look for the big boys. Fished till 3:30pm and only accounted for 5 SM ranging from 1-2lbs and a nice 14" rainbow. All fish came on jerkbaits (lucky craft) and crankbaits (Bandit). Went to the tackle store after that and picked up some hair jigs which were supposed to be the ticket on the lake. 1/8oz black hair jigs on 4-6lb test.

Watched a weigh in prior to going to the tackle shop and it too 22lbs with 5 fish to win (mixed bag) then there were some 18lb bags and it fell from there.

4/29 - Tournament day! Blasted off at 8am :x Lake rules! Within the first 30 minutes I had hooked and lost right at the boat a 4lb LM  . He took that hair jig but since i wasnt used to the bite i didnt get a good hook im him. I lost another small LM prior to that. Throughout the day we boated 6 keepers ranging from 12-14". These fish fell victim to the x-rap's and lucky craft slender pointers. Went back to the area we lost the LM in and my buddy loses a 3lb SM and then a 2lb SM both on hair jigs. So we called it quits about a half an hour eary so we could beat the traffic at the launch and start the 6 hour drive home.

Even though we didnt cash a check we learned so much about the lake and thats what really matters! Looking forward to next year. Talke to a buddy after wards and it took 27lbs to win with 8 fish. a couple of 22lb bags and then it fell from there with the average bag being 10-12lbs.

  3. I am in the process of obtaining that license too. The test, from what I read, is on the regulations in the sport your guiding in.. You need CPR which you get with ur 6 pack, and a physical which u need for your 6 pack. Onieda is a navigatable water so I think the 6 pack will work. Not many places you need a guides license for. Mostly finger lakes and adirodack lakes, and maybe chautaqua.

If you want to guide on Conesus or Honeoye you need to obtain another license from the state and have your boat inspected by the state. Total cost per year is $40. This is only for Conesus and Honeoye. If you have a 6 pack they will waive theis test.

  4. Hey buddy! I would take ya up on the offer but I will be in CT this weekend fishing a bass tourney. All I can tell ya is find the dirty or green water. Most likely this will be off the mouths of creeks. Throw a variety of colors out until you find one that works. If you are fishing clear water stretch your lines further behind the boat. Other than that I think we all missed the good bite that was going on all last week. Hope for some rain and wind for a day or so!

  5. Dropped in around 7 and fished till 9. Boat had some overheating problems so we couldnt troll down too much and had to keep throwing it in Neutral to rev the engine. Finally called it quits at 9. Plucked a nice 8lb bow off the boards on my noode rod and that was the ony action for the morning.

That is until I came back with the bass boat and loaded up on some LM, most of them were small though.
