Make a cut out of your x-buddy and put it in the boat so you can still get out two more rods!!
-
Say Ray if we were under wind power can we cut off the sailboats!! That would almost be worth the effort

Janz we were over by the plant and saw fish jumping there . Saw your boat out there a couple of days last week. We wound up with only 2 coho out of the salmon that we caught. I think the weather down in the gulf has a lot to do with the salmon being later this year. The temps were all over the place with the changing winds. At least the south and east winds let us get out.

Ray you should have tried in tighter our best line was in the 45' range from the Catfish area to the bouy line in front of the plant. We were picking up fish off the bottom with the riggers and the dipsies. Chrome E-chip with hammer fly was our best. Tried others the only one that came close was a white and silver R&R assassin with a mirage fly. Lost that one when the currents did the catch the other line and twist till they break off game. :? Had a good 2 weeks in selkirk shores.

E-bay, the one I have been looking at has loose leaf type format so you can add updates.

The salt water guys use lights for swordfish. I heard of guys doing it , but I don't know how they made out.
-
Try slowing the drill down. To fast it will burn it up. There is a spray cutting oil or bit cooler too. We used to use a brand called cool cut. NAPA would have something that would work.

When the water is cold enough I don't see why the smaller fish can't be released. If you gamble and don't get a full box oh well. The fish I saw realsed that were netted and measured under the 18.5 all took off. And I have caught large salmon that show signs of an out of lake experience.

Beats the heck out of working where I was!!! Nice to read good reports Thanks

I have a pair of 7' roller rods they have the better rollers that won't foul the wire. The shorter rods make it a lot easier to handle the kings. And they arn't so heavy that can't have fun with the smaller fish on the fingerlakes. I like them better that the twillie tip. We run them flat to the water and the clear the riggers fine. Jeff aka Miss-Em made them. They do a great job for us..

It does manage to find the dipsies and other things somehow
-
You can order them through Cabela's walker brand with a blacks style release built right in

Trout and Salmon always had trouble spawning , because of a vitman B deficiency The Alwifes didn't have enough of it. Now that they are chowing down on gobies will the successful spawn rate go up?

If I was going out of Treiman tommarow I would go stright out off the drop and set up. Riggers down 25 to 30 with a small stinger on a 20' lead and a free slider above that with a second stinger. You could run a rap off the small dipsie. I would go as far north as the yacht club and swing into 60 to 80' of water and head south. That west side of the lake the current flows along the shore to the drop then hits the current out of the three rivers and goes along the east shore. I run about 2.5 to 3mph. Landlocks like something orange.

Ya had me worried Ray I thought you still had that stomach bug
-
I enjoy it , you learn alot and get to meet some some of the best fisherman on the lake. And some interesting characters!! like team REBEL BE ON time each morning and have the pens and watch that you need for the paperwork. The capt. will find you a place to sit thats out of the way. Ask questions and enjoy yourself.. You are repesenting your team, so try to do your best.

I vote for the wire the landlocks like it. The braid it something to think about too. The fleas get on it but its nicer to work with than the mono.

Last year the ramp closest to the lake had silted in pretty bad. The two ramps at the floating dock and the ramp farthest from the lake were fine. I have a 21' boat and that first ramp wasn't deep enough to get out on.

Its a mag 10, great units and they sell for upwards of
$150 on E-bay. They arn't as fast as the newer ones but are a workhorse.
-
The lighter line will give the spoons great action with the lighter snaps. Flashers and flies it might be to light. I run 15 to 17 on the spoon rods and 20 on the other.

Ray hope you feel better. That stomach bug kicked my butt!!! Waited for that little alien to climb out, but in my case he wouldn't have been so little
