X2 180' of wire on a #3 setting puts you at 60' If the wire was going out faster than the boat was going , fish.unless you have very weak hooks ya aint gonna straighten a hook on bottom with 30 lb wire ..but if you hook a fish in the bone where the 1 in a hundred hookups occure a fish can straighten a hook easy even at a mild drag setting ...think you lost a big salmon on the run ..seens to happen more with flys than lures..one more reason to check yer hooks after EVERY hit..

Oh Kings will hit them, but most of them arn't made to take to many king hits.

Fished the afternoon around 2-8 in 120-150fow in mexico bay and to the power plant. We went 2 for 4 on the kings. I was only running three rods though. Released 2 decent salmon estimated 12-15lbs, had one get off right at the boat and 1 got off from slack after the downrigger released. 3 of the hits were on F/F on a 100 rigger. Great day, the lake was calm and the sun was out. The salmon are definitely here in mexico bay.
Must have been close to ya. Not to many boats out. Wound up with 3. one over 24, and I was alone so couldn't weigh it in. Spoons for me 2 off the 65' rigger and one on the dipsie 200 out on a #3 . Flat lake and lots of junk floating around , sticks , logs , weeds

Take a blacklight and go through your lure box. Lots of tape change color when hit with the UV. Some tape lights up with the UV , Others reflect it. I found the light blue mirage uv tape reflects all light more than a chrome flasher in my " Man cave" . It will reflect all the way the length of the basement. where the chrome won't.. Two tapes the same color tape to my eyes will look completely differant when hit with the uv.
You can get a uv flashlight at lowe's or walmart. 7 to 10 bucks

I can't belive there is a charter boat that dosen't use one.. Its the first rigger in on my boat. I don't know where you fish , but even in the fingerlakes there is current and temp breaks.. The speed at the lure is what is important.

Good Meeting !! I am gonna have to try making my own flashers this winter. Great ideas.

The blacks have a flatline release that might work too.

I try to answer the radio check call . Mostly because it not only helps them, but "checks" mine too.

Glad to help out !! I got a couple lighter ones for leadcore.

Yes the driveshaft for the outdrive goes through it. I would do all three the shift, the exaust, and the main . Grease the u-joints, and splines and check the alinement of the out drive to the engine too.

Flashers are just attractors that bring the fish to the bait. I used a 3.5 to 4' leader with the 8" protroll or pro-king flashers.. I like the lighter blanks so the kick of the flasher jerks the spoon more. NK used to make a "flasher" spoon on a aluminum blank. The triangle flashers like the Tri-Flash or the Dee's , and another one that works too. There is a new one from protroll that just spins took fish for us last year., agitator, maybe.

Works good,I like a lighter blank R&R superlite took kings for us

You can add a weight ahead of the core to get it deeper.if needed , All depends of the temp of the water.

Pull mine with a 1/2 ton no problem. When I put my floor in , I replaced the fill hose to the tank. And made it three pieces so the center can be removed to get to the tank if needed. Great boat. Mine is the 3.7 , I put a real alt on it as the one in the front of the engine was overcharging. It has the closed loop cooling and had to put new waterpump seals in it. Working fine now.

lot of snubbing going on. I have a smaller boat and I like a snubber for the headshaking just before the netting, while trying to get around the riggers and such. Just my opinion.
