The lake currents can be different at various deeps when the lake flips. Please share your thoughts on how you adapt to this.

Troll and pay attention to your electronics.  If you are marking fish and not catching, change direction until you find which direction produces best for that day.

It is a tough business!  What I am hearing……

-Bayrat lures are shutting down (maybe they will sell to another?). Can anyone confirm this?

-Northport Nailer. Best paint job in the business IMO. The owner says they are selling down the rest of their stock as they are heading towards retirement.
    -luhr Jensen J-plugs….forget about it.
-Silver Horde plugs….good luck finding them in the color you want

-R&R …..has there been any Dave Wilczak sightings?

It's tough to make money selling tackle for many reasons.  Lots of competition, Supply chain issues (still), NY taxes and Federal Excise tax.  If I didn't enjoy making tackle, I wouldn't continue to do it.

Are we talking about Sandy near Kent and Hilton or the one on the east end?

I would be interested, But before that, I would like to know what the chances are of having my gear stolen there. I heard some horror stories.

In short, how is the security setup over there?

Sandy Creek in Hamlin.  He has been doing work since last spring.  I had my boat in that marina from 2006-2012.  Crime was never an issue there.

We've done a bit of experimentation.  Don't get me wrong, some of it was a bit sketchy.   But so far,  still have all fingers and toes and no negative consequences.

The do work great for fire starters unless they are daytime only flares.  I found a very old set in the boat I bought last year.  There was one that was a "day time only" flare.  My neighborhood was an orange cloud for about 30 mins.  The non existent wind made it linger for way longer than I wanted it to.

Do yourself a favor and do a barrier coat then bottom paint before you launch.  Gel coat is porous  and will absorb water which leads to chemical reaction in fiber glass causing damage.  The barrier coat is important and will prevent a lot more labor in the future.  Not a hard job just labor intensive with a lot of nasty sanding.  Doing it right once is the way to go.

This is great advice.  I didn’t vapor barrier my last boat the first season and ended up having small blisters all over the hull.  I had to grind each blister out and repair them.  Not a fun job!

Where can we find the patterns? And where did you get the glow vinyl? My wife can only find standard colors.

You will have to design them with the software on the cutting machine.  It's not hard at all!  For glow tape, look at Mad River or Ebay.
