December 28 pm 31 degrees SW wind 10-20 mph Cloudy skies Flurries at dusk Damn wind made for a cold, cold sit this afternoon but the action was hot. Probably the best sit of 2022. Deer we're on the feet early looking for one thing... food. I saw over 30 including 7 bucks. 3 of the bucks were mature (the giant bodied big beams and no points that I have seen at least a dozen times this year, 10 point that I shot at yesterday, and an absolute stud 8 pt). No shots fired! Gonna change up the approach tomorrow and get a bit aggressive. I need a better angle and hopefully get a better shot window. December 17 pm 34 degrees SW wind 5 mph Becoming cloudy Got into my make shift ground blind early. Clear some stuff and brushed it in a bit better. Almost immediately I had deer in and out of the woods feeding. About 4 ish I had a button buck walk up behind me and got within 10 feet of me before he spooked. 4:00 the deer began to pour out of the woods. Saw 20+ total including 4 bucks. About 415ish I put eyes on a mature buck but I only had a short window to make it happen. Probably a 5 count. Clean miss. About 90 yards. There's a few possibilities but im guessing (and hoping) I just rushed the shot. Of course now I'm thinking about heading to the range on Monday to make sure it wasn't the gun and it was all me. December 16 pm 34 degrees W wind 5 mph Cloudy skies Light sprinkle Saw a ton of deer after 4 pm today. 25 total including one young buck. Not what I had hoped but it was good to see that many deer pounding that field. Just need the right one to slip up and hopefully I'm in range. The rain finally quit... Back on overwatch from the ground for the afternoon. Seems like the perfect setup to me. December 14 pm 32 degrees NE wind 5-10 mph Cloudy becoming partly sunny Another slow start. Got into the blind at 1 and didn't see my first deer until 3. That would be the only deer I saw between 1 and 410. After that deer slowly started making their way out into the field. Although I saw 15 deer (including 2 young bucks) it was a pretty boring sit. December 13 pm 32 degrees N wind 5-10 Sunny skies Deer were on the feet this afternoon. I hunted my make shift blind again and I literally had deer in the field from the time I showed up until the time I left. 25+ deer including 5 bucks. Deer are certainly grouping up. I had one group of 11 does and once again a bachelor group of 3 bucks. I saw 2 mature bucks. Once again I saw this big mature declining buck with big main beams and no points on his one main beams. I have had this deer on camera for years but I'm not sure if I ever saw him until this year. Oddly enough this year I have seen him at least 6 times. I had the cross hairs on the second mature buck but never pulled the trigger. I wasn't 100 percent comfortable with the shot. Sent from my moto z4 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

December 12 pm 32 degrees NE wind 9 mph Cloudy Flurries Zero action this afternoon until 405 then the deer started to show up. 10 deer total. Does, fawns, and four bucks. 3 young bucks and one possible 2 or 3 year old. Tough to tell from a distance but no doubt wasnt a 1.5. but also he was 140 plus either. Saw some sparring, chasing, and bumping. One of the young bucks was still 100 percent in rut crazed mode. Oddly all four bucks showed up together tonight. Well back in the woods after a 3 week hiatus. Snuck in here a bit before 2. Cold temps and a light dusting of snow on the ground. Wind is perfect for my make shift blind but I'm not totally sold on deer sign. Time will tell. Butternut squash on one side and winter wheat on the other.
