  1. I fish 12' minimum on my diver leaders. it has greatly increased the success of them. I will admit that short leads for spoons can have their days but short leads on flashers can hinder their action. The long leads means that we are forced to handline them to the net.
  2. Great meeting and yes very big crowd. The biggest we have had in a very long time.
  3. Awesome! I will add that when I am King fishing that my releases are extremely tight. However depending on what I am doing I may do a few other things. Lake Trout fishing (with cowbells) I use tethered scottty releases. They work great 100+ down and allow me to see my bites better. Another thing I do is use half hitched rubber bands along with my blacks releases in skinny water. The point is there isnt a one size fits all and different situations require different things.
  4. I run my releases extremely tight. Tight enough that most fish can not release them on their own. 20# kings struggle to release them. When a fish hits them I want to be able to get to them and release them. Not the fish. Lock them down and I bet your hook up ratio increases.
  5. Hey Everyone, Just a reminder that our next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday June 6 at 7pm sharp at the Irondequoit Fish & Game Club. Our meeting will feature Guest speakers Steve Hurst and Chris Legard from the NYSDEC. This meeting will be a "Q&A" style format so make sure you bring your questions. We are looking forward to continuing this annual meeting with the NYSDEC and see it as a replacement to the original State of the Lake formatted meetings of the past. The idea is to be more interactive with the crowd and the stake holders rather than just providing scientific data. As always our meetings are open to the public and encourage you all to attend. 7. The NYSDEC has a contract with the feds to do "hazing" during spring stocking. This was done last year also. The timing of the hazing is based off the release of the pen fish. They are allowed to shoot and kill birds besides just shooting fireworks and stuff. Lets hope NYS continues funding for this.
  8. I would recommend hooking it to the backing and not the copper
