  7. Spent the majority of the day in the deer woods yesterday. Checking stands, clearing shot lanes, moved one set, and most importantly hanging cameras. IOt hasnt been 24 hours yet and Im already addicted to these cell cams!
  8. So I bit the bullet and bought a pile of Tactacam Reveal XPros. Who's using them? Any tricks of the trade that I should know?
  9. Lets get this thread started!!! The 2023 season is just around the corner. As always I'm looking forward to returning back into the deer woods. Lets see some of those trail cam pics! Last season's gun buck story as posted in the 2022 thread November 19 am 28 degrees SW wind 10-15 mph Cloudy Opening day gun season Well my archery season wasn't what I had hope for. Damn work got in the way of hunting. The last two days I was hesitant of hunting because of the wind. A steady light wind works for where I wanted to be but not a heavy gusty wind so I stayed out. And I'm glad I did. I got in stand about 610 or so and slowly got settled in with hundred layers. Before I even got my jacket on I had a buck sneak past me about 30 yards. It was too dark to tell which buck it was but of course I was convinced it was one of my target bucks. Ill admit... it screwed with my head a bit. Gun shots started ringing out about 639ish from every direction. Then about 715 I noticed movement cutting down the same spot cruising bucks have been using for 2 weeks. Things happen fast. It doesn't take long to realize he's a shooter. I stand turn to my right. Rest the gun on the tree. The deer just happens to stop at 30 yards and I pull the trigger. He dropped in his tracks but I got hit high. 9x scope at 30 yards I guess I should have held down on him. I had to finish him off with a second shot. If only the guy shooting was as good as the gun. [emoji38]. To my surprise i have no history with this deer. Big thick wide 9pt with split g2. I'll be patiently waiting on the late season to start! 10. When we have a wind episode like that (east or a west) the fish seek stable water offshore. East wind earlier in the week piled the warm water into the western basin and the canadian south shore. A few days later that pounding west wind blew it all onto the US south shore giving us an extreme amount of warm water. 165-180 of cable to reach upper 40s all the way out to the 28.5 n line. Kinda crazy. Fish and bait want stable water so the offshore fishery is a no brainer on days like this. We fished 30-35 N on Sunday and had an insane amount of King bites out there.
  11. The forecast is good for tomorrow morning. Light variable winds for the am.
  12. Depth raider because it requires coated cable
  13. 2023 Sandy Creek Shootout results Big fish Friday 2 fish main event
  14. Announcement... We have extended our registration until Friday evening! There has been a lot of questions regarding Saturday's weather. As most of you know our event seems to attract the worst mother nature has to offer almost every year. As per our tournament rules we will not leave the dock under a small craft warning. If a small craft warning is issued the tournament will be moved to Sunday. Spread the word!
  15. The Great Lakes Fishery Commision is the lead agency on lamprey control and they handle all of the treatments on the great lakes including canadian water. Here is some good reading... http://www.glfc.org/control.php
  16. The probe rigger is always the first in for me and it is always my deepest rigger. It helps me find speed, current, temp all while dropping other things in the water. Once we get settled in we may make adjustments from there.
