  1. Wow So what happened with him? What was his excuse?
  2. Cameras have been on fire overnight... 16 different bucks so far (from what I can count)
  3. Well camera sightings have changed significantly this week. Bucks of all sizes are all over cruising but does have not been showing themselves. I would say doe sightings on cameras are down 75%. Lots of pictures of does being bumped by smaller bucks. Patterns seem non existent. Shooters walking between 930-230. Chaos has started. I think its crazy that even with the current weather pattern the action out there has still been good-great. Sat pm- Monday am look great weather wise here in 8A. and Sunday AM looks to be textbook perfect.
  4. I hunted the northern zone for 15 plus years and the change in scenery was always nice. I always went up there for Early muzzy season and then the gun season. Too much time and effort here to spend any time up there anymore. Id much rather hunt my herd and I have my eye on 3 bucks that Id like to wrap a tag around on my home territory.
  5. Well I have to admit Im getting stir crazy sitting on the sidelines. I decided to look around PA and find some where to hunt during the rut. After exhausting a bunch of possibilities I found a small outfitter in the middle of the state. My plan is to head there November 6-9 and hunt the rut. I dont know much about the outfitter so it is definitely kind of a risk. We have had a couple of phone conversations and it seems like it should work out. It will be nice to get back in the game!
  6. I have not been hunting so my observations are purely what my cams tell me. Cams have been on fire. Full of bucks of all sizes. Most of my pics at this point are of horns. Im seeing lots of premature chasing by young bucks annoying doe groups. I have 4 cameras on mock scrapes and they are crushing them. (lots of visits from does and fans also). I have also witnessed on cam 2 new scrapes made in front of cams in the past 2 days. One of them has had 5 bucks visit it including one that performed the classic rub urination in it. That methodical and very predictable summer pattern that was here for the first 2 weeks of the season is history. The mature daywalkers that I had patterned seem to be moving much closer to last light and first light. I have one cam that is literally in the middle of bedding and that one still produces daywalkers on a regular basis. One of my shooters was on cam yesterday at 340 pm. I will say now if I put a deer to bed it seems highly unlikely Ill catch him on the same cam in the afternoon. The crops around me have all been harvested so its not as easy to eat as it was 3 weeks ago. Late September and early October I had such a great acorn drop that these deer were too easy to pattern. You just needed to find their travel route. I assumed that is where the buck I shot early this month was headed and the buck my son shot was literally shot as he arrived to our oak ridge. (his belly was full of acorns). Its that time of year and all hell is about to break loose. Good luck boys!
  7. Saw this video today and I thought I would share. This is easily the best bow tuning video I have ever seen. It is long but damn it is good!
  8. and by far the most buck activity I have seen this year
  9. Probably the most active my cameras have been overnight this entire year so far... Curious to see how far past daylight the activity goes.
  10. Lots of deer on their feet overnight....
  11. Im curious to see how cameras are during this front vs those "better mornings"
  12. Some awful weather has moved into NY this weekend and looks to be here all week. A couple of notable time periods that stick out to me are ... Tues morning Kind of a calm in the middle of the storm. 2+ days of warm temps, wind, and rain. about 12 hours of great conditions. temp= 44 wind= south 8mph sky cover= clear pressure= 29.92 Friday Afternoon Looks like that rain will finally let up on Friday. However it depends on the wind... right now the forecast says 16 mph Saturday Morning After the storm temp= 42 wind= south west 6mph sky cover= partly cloudy pressure= rising to 30.32 (by 9am)

  14. Here is some pics from another property in which I also installed a vine scrape adjacent to my camera
  15. Spent midday in the woods yesterday moving some things around. I searched for a spot to hang a new set along a field edge but it was unsuccessful due to the fact that every tree was a standing dead ash tree. I also had 4 cameras that I wanted to move. I felt they weren't "teaching" me anything so i moved them to have a new view. The one camera I hung a new vine scrape and it has been visited 6 times (bucks and does) since I hung it yesterday at noon. I love my mock scrapes and hanging vines are great way to install them.
  16. 17. Well since that cold front rolled in last week deer have been moving x2. Cams had been getting a little boring up to that point but deer activity has certainly increased dramatically. Lots of new bucks showing up also. Definitely witnessing the transition of summer patterns to fall patterns. I made myself a laundry list of things to do to prepare for gun season. I have one stand to hang, one to move, move a couple of cameras around, etc. Anyone else getting out?
