Lots of young bucks bumping and chasing does this morning

More like impatiently waiting!

Big weather change coming in the next 24 hours. 60 degrees and windy. 30 mph gusts today as this cold front comes in. Overnight low about 30 degrees, daytime highs in the low 40s, and winds less than 10 mph, Tomorrow looks picture perfect!

The tale of two deer woods... A week ago or so I was posting about all kinds of bucks showing up on cam, bucks sparring, and every young buck in the woods was cruising and harassing everything he saw. Typical of late October. Fast forward. Here we are November 7 and cameras are quiet. Does want nothing to do with being out in the open. The amount of blurry pics of does is astonishing. Every time I get a picture of a doe on a field edge, a buck is right there to chase her off. Its getting tense out there. We may be a week from peak rut but certainly there is some hot does out there and the act of repopulating the woods has begun. Its about that time to see some mid day giants.

This is too good not to share.... This is Hunting. It will break your heart and you will go days without getting so much as a shot at an animal. You will miss your shot. You will see garbage in the bush, and have to pick it up. You will wound something one day, and it will make you cry. It will teach you life lessons. You will learn that one more minute can make all the difference. You will learn that life doesn't care...the weather warms up anyways, the wind changes direction, and all you can do is work with it. You will see the beauty of dawn. You will learn the feeling of being prey. You will see things so beautiful, others seem dull in comparison. You will speak to another species. This is hunting. It will make you vulnerable. You might cry over the animals you shoot. You might make mistakes and fret over the what ifs. You will face your own worst enemy in the bush: yourself. You will have to walk through the dark, basically blind deaf and dumb. You will learn the bittersweet feeling of letting an animal live, or choosing to kill one. You will learn the important balance of life and death. You will become ..... you. You will learn passion, grit, strength, emotion, Independence, determination, empathy, silence and peace. It is where you will learn your most valuable lessons. It is where you will make your best memories. It is where you will cry, laugh, and love. It is where you learn to be still and be quiet. My cameras have been on fire this morning with cruising bucks. 7 more bucks since 845 with 2 matures showing up.

10 different bucks from 647-837 so apparently they waited to move until daylight. Mostly first racks.

LOL.

Well yesterday morning I had some incredible buck movement. It started about 430 and went until about 900. Its a guess but 12-15 different bucks including 2 matures. Today... crickets. Overall some decent movement overnight but no sign of the buck movement like 24 hours ago. Curious to see what early morning brings.

At the range getting the boom sticks ready for action... Clock is ticking... 2 weeks to go!!!

update... Its 730 now 12 different bucks on camera since 430 am this morning (730 now). 2 mature, 3 2.5 year olds, and a pile of first racks. Does have been almost nonexistent on camera. Im guessing 50% on food and 50% deep in hiding

Bucks have been moving like crazy since about midnight. Below freezing temps, light NW winds, and cloudy skies this morning. Good luck boys... sounds like a recipe for success today!
