  1. Now do you run the flashers with flies, and spoons or just the flies, I have oth but I havent heard that many people run flies off of their rigger they mainly run their flies off of wire dipsies and copper, never really thought about running flies like that. Woody5442
  2. Got on the water by 6 am, went out to 70 fow and set up, trolled due north.. Hit our first fish in 200 fow 30 down on a nk28 Green Glow Frog, king. Hits came 30, 40, 50, 60 in the morning, and the more it got light out the deeper they went. picked at them till 11am when it got too rough for us and we went in. ended the day 6 for 11, (2) 10 lbs coho, and a 25 lb king being the biggest all fish returned to the lake to fight another day. That 25 lbs king ended up breaking the drag on one of my Okuma reels after it striped out 500 feet of line had to use my thumb to slow him down and some good boat driving to make up some line. Had a great time, as always. Saw quit a few boats out there most staying in shallower like 100 fow, had one boat out where we were. Woody5442
  3. So what you run say 2 riggers with flasher spoon, and 2 with out flasher... and thanks for te info next time I am out im going to try flashers with my lures... Woody5442
  4. I have a question about flashers on the riggers... I run 4 riggers on my boat, with no flashers in front of the lures.. I have been doing pretty good, we went 6 for 9 this morning in pultneyville,(Still have to post a report) does it make that much of a diffrence in the amount of fish that you catch. I have a bunch of flashers that I never use and was wondering what you all thought. If everyone does run flashers, what length of leaders do I use from main line to flahers and then flasher to the lure. I run mainly NK lures off the rigger. Thanks for the replies in advance... woody5442
  5. Reel, I know that they use to be, as far as I know they arnt doing it anymore. I will call wally and let him know that you are looking for him... Can you give me your number and I will have him call you... They own a contracting buisness together so let me know... Woody5442

  7. Chris, Thanks, had a blast... That was the most kings that I caught in one day... It is tough since I dont have a Speed and Temp probe, and with the temps all over the place I have to rely on this message board for thangs like that... So too all that post thanks for making mine and my 10 yr olds day... Ge got to fight the 22 lb king that we brought in. I didnt end up getting out today, had to do to work on the honey do list... I hope to get out sometime this week, Kids want to go out tomorrow morning but I dont know... We will see... Tracy...
  8. Went out this morning, whgat a beautiful day to be out on the lake. Started in 100 fow and trolled North. Hit 200 fow and all hell broke loose, first rigger fires and a king takes off, another rigger goes, holly crap a double, first real double. Get on fish boated another rigger goes off, get the other fish in the boat the last rigger in the water goes, give it to my 11 yr old and he holds on for dear life. Was a great day of fishing, we went 9 for 11, all fish on riggers, NK 28 watermellon down 30 was the best producer, but took fish on Green Glow Frog, NBK, Watermellon, and Orange Crush, we had to lengthen the leads on them had them back 40. Took fish from 25 down to 50 down Most of the fish were in the mid teens with the last fish being 22 lbs. Ended up having to keep 3 fish since the pretty much engulfed the lure and were bleeding pretty bad, tried to release 2 that we kept but they went belly up... Turned the boat around and scooped them up, in the cooler they went and on the grill tonight. Going back out tomorrow got the waypoints set... Will post some pics later...
  9. Yep, its that 10 percent of the people out there that would do that... screws the other 90 percent of us... Personnaly I beleive in being fair, and would never do anything like that, but that is just me.
  10. I dont understand it myself but I guess its the rule and we have to live with it... but it still think dam what if we got it 20 min earlier we would be in 1st place right now in the LOC... But all in all had fun, more fish out there to be had so lets go get them.
  11. Went out last night with 2 friends of mine one never caught a salmon before. Started at the boat and going by 5 pm set lines in 65 fow didnt troll for 5 min and rigger goes off, nobody home, 5 min later another goes off, again nobody home. Temp on top was 61 degrees, so I set my spread every 5 feet. Riggers only, havent got the dipsey thing down yet. Riggers from 20 down to 35 feet. Trolled around till at 7:40 rigger goes off and starts screeming, rookie on the pole, he tightens the drag down and starts to reel, run over and loosen the drag and the fish takes off, strips out 400 ft of line. Just put the lure Pro King, green and yellow hologram on not 5 min before. So he fights the fish till almost 8:15, too late to weigh it in ...34 lbs on the scale.... What a bumber.... :x but the rookie had a blast.. Those nights that you only get one fish are worth it when it is a quality fish. WIll post pics later when I get them from him...
  12. Jolly, Was going to put my 21 ft Penn Yan in there and she wanted 1050 for the season. I ended up docking my boat at Pultneyville Yatch Club. Got in there for 960 at one of the perminant docks but there are floating docs there for 20 percent off. My wife didnt like the floating dock so we went with the perninant ones. The perninant ones cost more because they have electric and water. Only catch is that after the first season it goes up 20 percent if your not a member of the club. I really like it there, nice people that look out for your boat, and the charter captains there arnt afraid to tell you where the fish are. Woody5442
  13. BP, I normally run my brown program speed between 1.8 and 2.3 on my GPS. I run 4 rods on my riggers and I get out early. I am at my boat at 5am and out by 5:15 since I have my boat docked. I start in 35 fow and work out to 60 or 70 fow and I troll East to West. I run out and look for Kings at around 8:30 since that is when at least for me the bite shuts off. I run NK 28's for my lures Green Glow Frog, Orange Crush, Watermelon, and PurpleThunder. If I dont get anything on them then I just start throwing whatever my kids pick out of the box, But those are the colors that I have had the most luck with. But back to the speeds, you are going to have to play with it, sometimes they like it fast and sometimes slow, just depends on the mood. Good luck to you and hope that this has helped. Woody5442
  14. Kingfish, Anytime that you and some of your friends want to get out on the water let me know. I was a Marine for 8 yrs and would welcome anyone in the military on my boat anytime. So if you make it down to wayne Co. Let me kow and we will go out. Im sure that goes for alot of the people on this board. But anyway thanks for your service... 15. Wolf, I think I was out with you guys last night. I forgot all about Wend night derby. I was in the See ma, 21 ft Pen Yan. We went 2 for 2 16 lb king 95 fow 60 down on a blk and wht ladder back glow and the 25 lb king came 90 fow 60 down on a NK 28 watermellon, guess I should have came over since I have my boat docked in Pultneyville. I will be there next wendsday night. Woody5442
  16. Jekyll, Must have been a glutten for punishment. I know I still would have. I was in the Corps for 8 yrs till some dumb Navy doc boched a hernia surgery in Oki. Was with 2/7 till we got back to 29 Palms and then they Med Boarded me, What a pisser. Had a great time while I was in, I went to far away lands and meet new and intreasting people, and then killed them, so if your ever out in wayne co. In NY and want to go fishing with another Marine let me know and will go tell war stories. Semper Fi Leatherneck, Woody5442 Sgt Tracy Woodhams 2/7 Fox Co 1st Squad Leader
  17. Guys, Was wondering if anyone had walker electric downriggers and needed to have work done on them. Went out for an hour on Sunday with the kids. The rigger worked fine, got back to port and was cleaning up and now it will not work. Need to have someone look at it but have no idea were to take it or who to call, any sugestions. If anyone does work on them would be willing to pay whatever is needed to get it back up... Woody5442
  18. MO, Just remember grasshopper pull up and reel down, keeping the rod tip as high as you can, dont worry there will be plenty of fish for you to reel in. This is just practice till we get to the big show remember 20-30 lb Kings...
  19. Went out with th kids this morning, 6 of 7 in an hour, got out on the lake just after 5am, with the first line in the water, down 10 on a rigger green glow frog, was working on the next and it went off 15 down 6 lb brown. Reset it and was working on the next, got a orange crush in the water and it went off, 10 down, 10 lb coho, reset and got a watermelon in the water, green glow, and orange crush go off green glow is screeming. Put the 10 yr old on the screeming reel and reeled in the other. told him to hold on. Went and set the auto pilot and got another brown small maybe 4 lbs, let my 5 yr old bring it in. 10 yr old is still holding on for dear life, putting the brown back in and the watermelon goes, that on is screming too, tighten drag down and watch the show, about a 8 lb steel got that netted and back in and the green glow frog pulles out, whatever it was it stripped out 300ft of line, thinking it was a king the way it ran, but we were in only 40 fow. might have been a big steel head but it never came out of the water never saw it. reset every thing on the last rigger that was never set put on a small NK C5 hologram down 20 got another small brown, reset, was putting it on the release and got a hit from a small coho 3 lbs. All lures were Northern Kings Boy what a fathers day, would have loved to stay out but it started getting rough and the kids wanted to go in so we did. Hope all the dads have a good fathers day. Talk to you all later.
  20. No but I can rent her to you for a nominal fee if you like...
  21. Reel, Thanks for the info, another question is since it is a duel unit, sonar and chartplotter ,what is better internal antena or external antena, not really sure. Woody5442
  22. Guys, I need some advice in going with a fishfinder with the boat my wife got me for fathers day. She got me a 1986 Penn Yan set to go out on the lake fishing, the only problem is that the fishfinder is an eagle z-9500, and I want to replace it with a Lowrance. I found a LCX-20c fishfinder with GPS on it and was wondering is it better to go with internal GPS or External, Single Freq or Duel Freq. It is a combo unit but I cant beat the price retails for 996.00 but I found it for 547.00 on clerance, so what do you think... Any help would be appreciated... And again The boat is in the water in Pultnyville so anyone who wants to get up with me and go, just let me know. Woody5442
  23. Ray, I know that you were looking for someone to go out with... sounds like you had a great day. I didnt read your post till yesterday morning at about 4 am , couldnt sleep, and couldnt go out on my boat I think its too small to go out on the lake unless the waves are less than 1 ftrs but I was thinking about making the 1 and a 1/2 drive to go out with you Wish I would have now.... Anytime you need someone let me know I want to get out there and learn all I can. Its kind of hard unless the lake is calm only have a 17 ft boat and get tossed around if its not. That goes for anyone that needs someone to go out with. Like I said got out once last week on Wednesday out of Bear Creek in Wayne Co. Tried a green glow frog on a chartruce Spin Dr a rigger. Had a watermelon on a green Spin Dr. Had 2 stick baits out. Marked lots of fish in 40 fow marked one at 30 ft raised the rigger and bam it went off, only fish of the day, but wanted to stay on the bottom, but lost him. Well anyway you know you had a good day when you come home sore...
  24. Gambler, Ok, what are peanuts and cowbells, never heard of them before now, and where can I get them, another thing where is Hedges is that out of IBay, herd of it befor but never been there. Thanks for the imput, I know not many people like to fish for Lakers... Woody5442
  25. Going to be going out of either IBay or Bear Creek, I want to put my little ones on some Lakers, even though I might have spoiled my 10 yr old on a king the other day, can anyone tell me where they are in the spring, what depth to fish for them at and what to use, got spoons, flies and flashers, dodgers sping drs, stick baits, what works on them now? I know in the summer when I went out with Hooked Up Charters we fished out in front of Braddock Bay in 120 right off the bottom and they used a white fly with a chrome flasher. Any help would be appreciated, Thanks. Woody5442
