  3. great lists guys... geeze, my wallet is is spasming... been a while since i bought spoons - sticker shock - yikes! Seriously, these have been a great help...keep 'em coming. Also, when I get a chance I will compile the Top-10 of the Top-10 for 2010 and repost
  4. based on my somewhat short but never the less direct experience... out in the wide open waters like those on the eastern basin of lake erie i have marked bait pods (often with fish on them) off the side imaging that i would not have otherwise found. on my unit it is very easy to mark side images with a waypoint, and then come back over the top. useful feature? well for me more info is better especially in an open lake. as always, your milage may very... tight lines!
  5. I am finding it useful on lake erie (lots of structure), TBD on lake ontario. I have the 898C SI. Note these units do NOT return bottom depth reliably at running speed - many use a second through hull transducer for this purpose. This deficiency aside, I am satisfied with the unit.
  6. keep it simple at first....over time, with practice you can tighten up the vertical/horizontal spreads. for now just focus on running them clean Set inside dipsey#1 on a 1 setting and run deepest. Next set outside dipsey#2 on 2-1/2 setting and run 10-ft above inside dipsey#1. Repeat settings on opposite side, running inside dipsey#3 set 5-ft above deepest inside dipsey#1, and then set outside dipsey#4 10-ft above inside dipsey#3 if running wire and braid... run wire on inside dipseys, braid on outers if running braid and mono... run braid on inside dipseys, mono on outers also, make wide gradual turns vs. short tight turns hope this helps...
  7. Billy, great help, thanks for taking the time. Looks like they learned alot from their first version. Very likely the way I will go. [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  8. Food for thought, for BC2 and the rest of us... Integrity is a concept of consistency of actions, values, methods, measures, principles, expectations and outcomes. In western ethics, integrity is regarded as the quality of having an intuitive sense of honesty and truthfulness in regard to the motivations for one's actions. Integrity can be regarded as the opposite of hypocrisy, in that it regards internal consistency as a virtue, and suggests that parties holding apparently conflicting values should account for the discrepancy or alter their beliefs.

  12. If you could only carry 10 trolling spoons on your boat all year round, what would they be? Pls list spoon brand, name and size. Thanks. [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  13. FWIW...last weekend Red and Green worked for me..mostly 3" size, but 5" took a few and larger eyes. Call Gerry at Bill Hooks she had a good assortment of both sizes. Jack [ Post made via Mobile Device ]

  15. I think i have seen your rig Ray, i fish out of a 22ft center console with light green hull and white hard-top. Did not see the dead smelt, but now i know why they weren't there in the same numbers on sunday. Anyway beautiful day on the water. And yeah, i think the 'tourney guys' educated them a "lil" bit We have a world class fisheries in LE and LO - need to take advantage while we can. I should be out barcelona or dunkirk again next sat & sun - give me a shout on "68" if you are there. Jack (ShortHanded)
  16. Nice catching... I was a little west of brocton on sunday and could not believe the numbers of fish i marked on bottom in ~90 fow - i assumed these stacked bottom huggers were lakers, but i was picking at suspended walleye at the time so i never took a stab at them - maybe next time. Also, I didn't relaize the nys record laker (40+#) was taken from lake erie - nice fish! Jack
  17. Oh, yah, I remember...what a mess! Good to see you are still fishing the pro-am's ...great fun. Who are you fishing with this year? As far as Erie goes we will try for another time...the fishing (and eating) is awesome. [ Post made via Mobile Device ]

  19. Thanks. It was a slow pick and had to change from harnesses to get them to go. There was a ton of bait available, so the fish are well fed. Back out tomorrow am. Jack [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  20. Late getting on the lake. Bait and fish all along the drop out front. 30-50ft down over 70-90ft best. Cranked up a limit off boards, with one fish just under 9 lbs. Jack [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  21. recommend getting a high-thrust version regardless of hp or brand.
  22. which of the two mugs in the close up of DanJr's avitar are better looking? i vote for the one with the the big mouth and most teeth . Yeah, I know, I need to be more discriminating in my description than that. How about the one with the least hair. Uh, wait a minute...
