  1. hey champy, on saturday morning we fished the same area but we found all the fish to be south of the river from slkirk shores to half way to the river. fished in 20-30 fow down 5-15 on the riggers with jplugs and spoons down the middle. flat lined jplug never moved. our biggest taker was the wire dipsey with a size 0 dipsey with out the ring out 80-100 feet with a green echip and glow green fly. took 4 rips on this rig, 1 on a glow savant spoon and 3 on jplugs. the fish are there deffinatly everyone was hooking up down there, but as soon ans the sun comes out the bite is done. get there before sun up in the dark and have your lines set and glow all charged up. from 6-9 we ended the day 4 for 8 hits. you have to watch the rigger also, we found they were not ripping them off the rigger but hitting them and swimming with the boat or under it. the rod would rise up in the holder some when one hit the jplug and take the tennsion off the set. good luck !!!!
  2. now thats trying to put the hurt on one with the wire! great pic, keep up the good work lil maniac!!!!!!
  3. glad to hear it Brad, and great pics of you and your son. you guys did get into some great browns there. next year maybe lil nemisis can join us. i`m looking forward to giving that sodus spoon a go again next year . thinking it was a time of year spoon and i missed it this year with it. along with the froggy spoon too , that one seem to do alot better earlier in the year also.
  4. boy the captain never gets in the pics.. hey had a great time with you guys thanks for everything, you will have to come out this spring for browns and help try out the new savant colors. allready looking foward to next years fishing!
  5. looks to be a coho but on the tail was it half spotted full spotted or no spots at all. it could be an atlantic too.
  6. fish are still staging off the river in 45-75 fow. we fished the 60 -75 feet range and the dipseys were fireing more then the riggers this year. we ran a #3 setting back 125 feet and 150 back on wire. hope this helps some for you . chrome echip with a mirage fly has been a hot one again this year.
  7. head north on rt 81 out of syracuse and and take the mexico exit 34. take a left go to mexico and take a right past the fire house on to rt 3 .you will hit a intersection of rt 3 and 104b. take a left and about a mile down the road you will aright after jons lil salmon tackle shop theres a right its the state boat launch. launch and go east to the salmon river and troll spoons and j plugs near shore . take a right out of the rt 3 and 104 b intersection and go about 3 miles and theres selkirk shores state campsite right on the lake. with a smaller boat you can launch also in the salmon river it self at the light house marina. keep going past selkirk shores campsites into port ontario about another 2-3 milesyou will come to a stop light. go thorugh it and over the salmon river and take a left at the blinking light and go to the end of the road. there you can launch and go in the lake or fish in the estuary which has salmon in it now too. i think that would be better for you . good luck
  8. I got one 2 years ago and you will love it !!! good luck on your new ride.
  9. Hey GB, we have been doing great this year first thing in the morning with just plain old green echip flashers with a ulta glow green atomic fly, and the best one a white echip flasher with a glow white fly. running the green 20 foot behind the ball and the white one 15 from the ball. i have been putting the green at 55 deg and the white below it 10-15 feet. running spoons above and below the flashers have had there time also. dipseys have been smoking this year with white echip and hammer flies and green spiinys with hammer fly. once the sun comes up chrome has been doing good. white has produced all day too. hope this gives you a starting point, good luck and hope you get into them.
  10. Empty Hook is out of LIL salmon river, Mexico Bay all year. I will be up fishing from this 17th to Labor day in the LOC. channel 69
  11. i have run the DR for 2 years now and this year i redid the end and didnt tape the end up and got it to 145 feet of cable out with no problems on the readings. i finally retaped it though and still working fine at the deeper depths.
  12. theres a 1994 crestliner sabre in port ontario for sale $10,000 o/b/o go to www.elosta.org theres a pic and listing there and another sabre there too.
  13. Steelie Stalkers day off on friday aboard Empty Hook, got to keep them DEC guys busy !
  14. i got mine there last year best price i found too. you got to go threw there internet site to get the good price.
  15. had a fish hawk sold it got a depth raider now. had the same battery in it since may, it dosent jump around, never looses signal, cheeper. i would look into a coated cable one not putting down a sub troll or a cannon never used them. by now i would have gone though a case of 9 volts with the hawk and swore at it 1000 times for loosing signal. my 2 cents
  16. hey Brad good seeing you again, thanks for all you guys did for the event from Savant spoons. I help load the bags there with you and couldnt belive the spoons you guys put in. Glad to see your Jordan made the trip with you and I think your in trouble now with a salmon partner for life. I agree with all above but it was the first one and a little adjustment is always in order after it. when putting this together it was just a few guys kicking it around on the internet for a fun family derby that grew to unbeliveable proportions. infact if you look at it there was more boats entered in this then the pro am. i hope noone ops out after this one and give it a go next year if it is done again. after running a deer contest for 10 years for our fire dept. i can attest to the difficulty to get something going smoothly. the more it is done the better it gets. Im sure that the communication between the managment and contestants will get better this year. Thanks to Beth and Mike, Rich D, Ron J, Chris Y and all the other people that helped out. this was my first tourny with my boat and we had some fun in it. looking foward to next year.
  17. Fished the Little Salmon River Challenge on saturday. Team Empty Hook ended up 17th place. a great day to be on the water, the day started off slow with a small king and steelie landed. we kept heading North toward sandy pond area and found the kings in 165 fow. the dipsey were the main go to set up with a green spin/hammer fly and a white echip with hammer fly. riggers that went where a white echip/ glow white fly and a green echip with glow green fly. the small fish hit spoons down the shoot. we boxed our limit of 9 fish and headed off the water by 9:30 in the morning. a nice tourny and thanks go out to mike and beth of mikes marina, Rich D, Ron J, Chris Y and so many ohters for putting it on. congrads to all that placed and hope to do it again double on the dipseys
  18. if it looks like bait, smells like bait it must be bait! i always run it on my spoons, i did a scent experiment a few years ago, i split the boat in half, one side with scent the other with out, the side with scent took more fish so i added one rod with scent on the other side and it took a hit, now all get scent. before setting l;ines put some on your hands to hide any neg. scent smells..it makes the morning doughnuts taste better too!!
  19. you cant beat the over hand knot, im sure thats the one thats one there. quick, easy and it holds.
  20. hey Rich, i see you guys did better then we went out thats great! wheres the pics? i hope quitting early you didnt have boat trouble or something. see ya next weekend at the LSRC..
