  1. I've owned both tekotas and the new saltists. Tekotas are great reels..drag is a little touchy. In My opinion , the saltist blow away tekotas. I like the drags, faster gear ratio, and machined parts. Eventually I will replace all My older diawas with saltist......okuma catalinas are pretty Nice also.

Good red head spots would be Cayuga and Conesus. The problem with those spots is they get hunted alot. Canandiagua is good also. Canandiagua is tough because of the depth. Ive layout hunted out in the Big Lake , but the flocks of Bills aren't hanging around like years past.

Most of my open water hunting is done for Scoters and Oldsquaws....Good luck and I have to agree with you...Layout hunting is awesome.

  3. Bob. You need to be patient on the strikes. Only set the hook if you can feel them on the line. When I used to bass fish with t-water baits, I would close My eyes when retrieving the bait. I had the knack for pulling the bait out of their mouths if I saw the boil. Frog fishing is Awesome....good luck....

  4. Good...I hope they do....with the caliber of fishermen on this lake those guys will get smoked.....and that's a fact.....ie Irish joe toomey, vinnie, cold steel boys, sure strike, and the list goes on. Not to mention the stiff competition to the north. Welcome east best chance guys......
