  1. Cheeserider, the tube requires no special tools it attaches to the transom with a single clamp it is not attached to the gimbal housing at all it has an oval mouth that will mate with gimbal at full down/i trim
  2. NEVER Use friends and family to pay for anything unless it’s your mom or dad. You have NO way of getting your money back if it’s a scam The web is infested with scammers Another trick they use is PM. As soon as they want PM or email it’s adios MF
  3. Magee canvas in Brewerton does excellent work. They used to bring their mobile trailer to Chaumont every other week. Not sure if it is still an option. I’ve had several tops and cockpit covers made by them and can attest to their work
  4. 💸
  5. According to the parks website , you use your license and the pass in the machine. It will give you a free receipt for your dash
  6. 🤞 it’s not freeze damage
  7. Made oil ??!
  8. I agree Change oil and filter before further use. If it happens after another trip or two ( check frequently ) I’d be looking for cracked crankcase or head or blown head gasket
  9. All you NY veterans !! NY has a new pass that gets you into most state parks and DeC run parks ( including free boat launches ) apply through the parks website You need proof of service (DD214 , etc) I got mine today. Should save a lot of money
  10. Many years of experience have taught me there is NO accurate wind prediction. I use NOAA marine forecast to get a general go - no go idea I will add 1 foot to ANY prediction if it’s calling for 1-3 you can bet on 2-4 bottom line , what you see when you get to the lake is what you get I’ve sat in the parking lot. Many times watching the 1-3 waves clearing the breakwall
  11. If you go blind , you probably have counterfeit glasses
  12. I started to uncover the old girl today. Wind was a bit much to wrestle with the cover
  13. They still are. They haven’t moved an inch
  14. That’s not as funny as it sounds. Years ago the local ford/chevy/ everything dealer had a promotion he had Robbie Knieval here to jump like 150 cars. Rt 11 , a major 2 lane , had that exact thing happen. It became a parking lot , north and southbound lanes were totally blocked for 10 miles. People just got out of their cars and left them in the middle of the road. There is a golf course near the venue , and hundreds of cars parked on the fairways and greens. Tow trucks couldn’t get to them to tow. So I can see this happening for the eclipse
  15. I live in Watertown, right in the direct path. The city is warning of chaos 180000 extra people expected , traffic gridlock , the Watertown airport is expecting 157 inbound flights , they normally have 2-3 per day There are several streets being closed on the 8 th. The hospital has issued a special code. Only ER will be open for business. This should be an experience. I’m going to sit in my yard with a nice rum punch and watch the eclipse and the fun
  16. And anything but a bronze thru hull below the waterline is just asking to sink
  17. I got tired of fighting with alpha 1 exhaust bellows. I have the tool and have changed many bellows , but , last year I replaced my bellows with the tube , and have never looked back. Yes , it is louder with the tube and you get some exhaust soot in the transom , but I can live with both. It takes about 15 minutes to install the tube anybody else had any experience?? Mercrusier came out with the tube to relieve pressure build up in the bellows on big block engines. The bellows would balloon and put pressure on the drive shaft bellows causing wear and failure the only time the exhaust goes through the prop is in full down/ in trim im a happy camper with the tube
  18. The new super fast retrieval rates on the newer riggers can be a problem without snubbers to cushion the sudden stop and to keep the weight from coming out of the water in rough seas it doesn’t seem to be a problem with older riggers and ones without fast retrieval rates
  19. The stretch is what makes them work 😝
  20. I was a little shy about the dreamweaver rip cord snubbers. They are advertised as for diver snubbers and nowhere is there a weight recommendation for them. The Amish would be a good choice also with 500 # spectra So far the fish thief has worked well for me
  21. I’ve been using the fish thief ( Heavy Duty) snubbers in my Canon mag 10 STX with Uber fast retrieve for 3 years with no issues. Make sure you order the HD for weights up to 20#
  22. Been using 16# torpedos from troutman87 on this site. Great guy , great weight , great price
  23. I live in Watertown. I fish both Henderson and Oswego Oswego would be your best bet. Henderson ( the trench ) is a later (August-Sept ) fishery. The run out to the wall in the shipping channel ( main duck island ) is a haul and can be treacherous if the weather turns
  24. I used this rig as an extra line for years. A 16 or 24 oz lead ball on a three way swivel. The weight is attached to the swivel with 1 ft of mono ( 20 # test ) it’s killer on LT. I use wire line and a roller rod with a cv30 convector reel let out line slowly till you make contact with the bottom and reel in a few cranks. Put rod in rod holder down the chute and the wave action will make your rod look like a “ pump handle “ I don’t use it as much as I used to. I don’t target mud chickens on Lake O I’ve caught board fish at the national LT derby on Seneca with it
