  1. Chris, it has been a pleasure reading your post! With so many fish that you have brought to your boat, pictures may not matter much unless it is the 27# monster.

After listening to my wife to rest my back for nearly two weeks, we went out for three hours with just one rigger. Without explaining why or what, I spent an hour working on the darn rigger and finally got it to run. Then, I couldnt find the torpedo weight. This happens when you re away from your boat for a while.

Saw many bait and fish between 180 and 240 FOW. Just one hit -as a buddy fought fish on 500' copper with gator spin doc and atomik green crinkle fly before he lost the fish. Had to head back to take care of the rug rats.

    tight lines.

  2. Thought I should share with fellow Rochester fishermen about nice deal at West Marine. I picked up several cut bait heads at West Marine on East Ridge Road in Irondequoit at a 75% discount in their discount bin. Good luck.

    Cut-Bait heads

Unrigged tuneable heads in various colors and new patterns. Cut herring required, please remember when rigging heads yourself you need to use toothpicks to secure treble hook in proper place. (The bend in the treble should line up with the tail of the herring strip)

  3.

Holy Moly, you continue to fill in the blanks with great fishing reports!

In my case, I am under an order from someone with a medical background, which is to rest my sore back. Talk about checking the website to find out whats going on in our stomping ground while sitting behind the monitor. This makes me a desktop fisherman! :(

Best of luck tomorrow. Keep the reports coming!

As always, keep the lines tight.

  4. When growing up in Long Island, I have done many fishing at nights.

Last year, I have read an article about full moon fishing for the kings in Lake Michigan (?). I have seen a boat gone out trolling for kings during full moon last summer when I was riding back to the dock.

I am curious to find out how many of you have done this.

Please describe your techniques such as type of glow spoons and how far down the rigger and the length between the lure and the ball.

    Tight lines.

  5. Ahoy Rich,

At least you kicked the skunk off the boat!

Any report is always useful regardless of whether you catch a fish or not.

It is up to the reader to form a game plan based on the reports from our fellow fisherman.

I played poker game last night and I wished I was out there on the lake on a near full moon. This brings up a new topic - hunting for kings on full moon.

    Good luck this weekend.

  6. You have a choice of using the various lures as mentioned by Gambler and Gray Fox or a live bait. I have more success using spinner bait. You could set up a live bait using a bobber and a suckers or pike(large) minnows on a hook. Set up one rod with a live bait on the bobber and use other rod for casting various lures.

Look for the weedlines and target these area.

Overcast days are my favorite condition to target the pike.

  7. Nice job on the trip with your bro and his 5 yr old. What a way to show them the Great lake fishing..

I was out for three hours 8 am to 11 am and had only one spoon hit by a teen king. Nothing stellar as I kept busy by changing lures, dodgers and flashers. :( My two buddies did not show up for whatever reasons that may have to do with the Park Ave festival.

Good luck on your upcoming trips with your family.
