When I bought mine it came with a blue 7 pins connector
You can use the black connector or if you need it for a LSS then you need a adaptor
-
The Totalscan will do a better job using the CHIRP function. If I were you I won’t bother using the P66

-
Or you can use the P66 in the gen2 and link the gen3 with the Totalscan with it using a ethernet cable
-
In the Gen3 you can't run a Totalscan and a 2D; if you want to do this you need to unplug one of the 2 and choose the right transducer in the sonar menu installation. The HDS Carbon can do this because there is 2 processors. If you want downscan and sidescan and 2D (P66) you need a LSS-2 transducer that will be plug in the black connecor and the P66 connect in the bue connector
-
Plus, today there is a super update for the Ti, Gen3 and Carbon specifically for downscan and structurescan that you can achieve with the Totalscan. It's name Fish Reveal!
-
The transducer is automatically recognize by the HDs and it's in the page settings that you choose structure or 2D
-
Yes you can use the Totalscan with the Gen3

Wifi is include with the Ti,Gen3 and Carbon so you can mirror with a tablet or a phone. If you want to control an electric motor the only one compatible is the Motor Guide Xi5 and you need to buy a Gateway module and it include all the parts and wire needed.

I have a helix you can use 2 transducers, switching from one to the other but not simultaneously.
This is something common but with the models that I mentionne you can both transducers. at the same time but there is a cost for that. The reason why you can run 2 transducers at the same time w/o interference S is because those units are using 2 processors and double the Ram.

I don't think you can achieve what you are looking for in a Helix. Lowrance Carbon and Simrad EV)3 can and maybe a top end of Garmin
-
If your tablet is cellular compatible you don't need anything else if you got a unit with wifi like a Lowrance Ti or a Gen3 or a a Carbon
-
If your card is up to date you got the exact same thing on the app and n a card; if your card is 5 years old so you will see some major differences.
The most negative thing with the app is the low visibility under the sun. The app on a table is much more easy to use because of the size of the screen and it's a HD version.

I use a Gen3 and and TM150 for jigging for lakers between 90-140ft and I can see my 3/4on jig. I also can mirror my screen on a Ipad and a IPhone but when it's sunny you can barely see the screen.
-
Yes I'm running a TM-150 and it's very good. Excellent target separation. Some people complain about loosing bottom when cruising but I have found a solution for that: I just use a fix frequency when moving fromspot to spot. I use 115degr.

For $1000 are the 'carbon' advantages really significant for the part time fisherman?
Don't know if your running a outboard but if so the $1000 that you are saving pay for the Lowrance hydraulic auto pilot

Go with the Gen3 and put the $1000 on something else
-
You are absolutly right

Another thing in regard of Marpa; you can't get Marpa with a Point-1 only with Precision-9 compas. Part# 000-12607-001 Mrp:$645 (ouch!)
-
Yes the RI-10 is for Marpa only and if you want Tom go that way you better suit with the 4G
-
The radar omes with cables but you will need the Point-1: 000-11047
NK 2000 starter kit: 000-012469-69 comes with power cable (2ft), N2K cable (15ft), 2x network terminators,2x T-connectors
You need 1 extra T-connector part#: 000-0119-79. Depends on the location you may need longer cable.
The radar comes with the scanner connection cable (33ft) and the adapter cable: Ethernet yellow 5 pin male to RJ-45 female (6.5ft)

My pleasure!

Great news from Simrad
in This Old Boat
Posted
With the new updates that has shown yesterday it is now possible to control a Hydraulic or a cable autopilot with a GO5 and also to control a Motor Guide Xi5 directly on your screen. The Simrad GO series is the equal of the Lowrance Ti but with the Ti it's impossible to run a hydraulic or cable ap. So you can get a GO that is a excllent unit at a very fair price and run the Lowrance Nac-1
