  1. Thanks for all your input. It just amazes me that a hit could be so strong, peel off some line and then be gone. I guess we need to spend more time on the lake. Thanks and good to all fishing the LOC. Tony (Slapshot)
  2. We were out today for the first time this year (5/6) and while we heard the fishing was great, thought we'd give it a shot. Boy were we glad we made the trip up. However, I want to know why this happens: we had a few good rips on the wire and braid dipseys and thought we were locked in, and to my surprise after a few seconds and runs the fish becomes unbuttoned. They felt look good fish and thought there was a good hook set, boom, gone. Why does this happen? Thanks for your advise. Tony (slapshot)
  3. Thanks for all the suggestions. I guess the next thing is to go out and do some shopping. Thanks again for everyone's help Tony

  7. How would I go about using the torpedos, because I believe we have them, just never took them out of their package. We have otter boards, so what size torpedo would you use and how far back? Is this a successful system to catch fish? Thanks, Tony
  8. Thanks guys for all the suggestions on how to set up a 6 rod spread. We'll experiment a bit with the set ups and see what works best and tangle free. Good luck to everyone this year. Tony
  9. On a 1 / 1.5 or 3 setting - how far back are you running the wire and/or braid?
  10. Looking to get some thoughts on how to run 6 lines. We have a 19' lund with an 8' beam. We currently stack each downrigger with 2 poles and a dipsey on each side. We would like to change things up an run a single line on each downrigger w/ a cheater and run 2 dipsey's off each side. First of all is this possible? If so, how would you run the dipsey's and what size dipseys would you run? Thanks. Tony

  19. How backing of Power Pro is needed for 500' of copper? I was spooling up an Okuma 55 CV with 600' of backing, 500' of copper and 100' of flo. carbon and it seems to have gotten built up in the middle of the reel not allowing me to get the rest of the copper and leader on the reel. Can some one offer some pointers as to what I can do to fix this problem? Thanks Tony (Slapshot)

Being that we are rec. fisherman. I put all of the good information to use from all of you here on this wonderful site. After being skunked multiple times last year and this being our first time out this year, we did alright. We boated 7, although 5 where dinks and the other 2 were 10 - 15 lbs. All in all, was a good day, except for the fog. Thank God for the GPS.

  22. The weather finally looks like it is going to give us a break. After some much needed additions to the boat. Finally, we are ready to head out for the first time this year. I have read many reports and it seems as if the fishing is not that great. So, with some changing winds this weekend, hopefully it will help, where do you think is a good starting place, Wilson, the Bar or Olcott?
