  1. It's Been years since I've fished out of Mexico Bay and it sure was on fire today. We filled the boat with kings this morning in 130 to 160 FOW. They were all males in the 18 to 25 pound range. Mag dipsys 1.5 setting out 320 pulling spin Dr with Iron Duke fighting Irishman fly did 12 kings alone. Deep riggers, 500 copper, and thumper rig did the rest. 2.4 to 2.5 down speed was what they wanted. Had to call it quits early due to the only boat in the area near me cutting off five riggs with his riggers. Back at it tomorrow I'll try and do a live post. Sean

  2. Got to be just a knot/line issue, I run fluoro on everything. From 10 pounds to 50. I had my first fish of the year break off on Ontario a couple weeks ago and that was on a 300 copper with a big church board that got dragged under with the drag set to tight. I never have a knot failure unless I let someone else tie them LOL. I run 10 to 15 for spoons on Finger lakes primarily 12lb then 12 to 20 up north. I've caught some big kings on 12 lb fluorocarbon rigger rods. I think it makes a difference in just the minimum amount of line stretch you get from fluorocarbon. You could bungee jump with 30 or 40 pound mono, which is why I always put ten ft of 40 pound mono between my core/copper and the backing. Sean

  3. Looks like Saturday will be the only day of the weekend to get out with the waves predicted for Sunday. I was out of Sodus yesterday fishing was some of the toughest I've had all year. Put five in the boat and lost two. At first we had 44 to 45 deg water down 110. Fish were stacked on bottom in 110 to 130. Then the west then North West wind turned that 110 ft water to 70 deg water fast. Start in that range work out to 180, flashers and fly's down 100 to 140 and spoons in same range did all our fish. Did have one great fish on a 400 copper but that was the only fish on copper or core. Took a brown down 140 over 200 that was a surprise LOL. Good luck let us know how you do. Sean

  4. Not lake Ontario related but I figured someone on here could recommend a good guide for early September fishing out of the Portland area or Massachusetts. Would like to put a trip together for inshore or offshore fishing. Thanks Sean

  5. Bows and Browns this time of year require two different programs. Your big browns will be in where the T-Cline meets the bottom probably around 60ft down. Bows are suspended out mid lake over bait or just under it in 56 deg water. I got a few spots where I can pound them this time of year. If you are fishing deep for Lakers say 120 down park your Laker rigs there and run a fixed slider with a good Bow spoon at 60. Then put your other riggers at the T Cline with spoons back at least 60ft. 250 copper 12 color core will do it to but you will kill them in this warm water reeling them in. Sean

  6. Nick, sorry but I must reluctantly withdraw from the Salmon Slam. Someone can have my spot and my seasonal slip at Arneys will be open for that day if someone wants to use it.

I am taking the boat to Key Largo from July 23 to Aug. 2 for lobster season and some fishing so It turns out I won't be around.

I'll rent your slip for the weekend if you don't mind. Sean

  7. Right on ty I'll take any advice I can get , trying to get wife and son to like trolling , lol but I can never get more than one fish when I go so they think it's boring, lol, don't know the issue but I'll keep trying, thanks

Just keep going! Good advise above spoons 30 to 80 down flasher and fly's deeper. I'd fish that 90 to 140 range like said above. It's all the little things that make a difference make sure you use small swivels, light floro leaders for spoons, core and copper off boards away from the boat. Some of Iron Dukes flys off a white e-chip 12 ft back on a rigger then same flys off spin Dr wire dipsy rigs on mag divers will put fish in the boat.
