Had fish on the screen in 20 to 100 fow but nobody interested so we cleared the stuff and shot out off shore. Found a real spotty looking screen from 400 to 550' and set up a wide spread: 400/500 copper steely style spoons off the big boards, divers out 350 w/ twinkie-meat behind crazy **** and a big mirage paddle. Riggers were set w/ mag and reg mixed veg spoons down 70 and 90. All the lines took fish. Wound up w/ a nice mixed box of steel, kings, and a coho. If I could go offshore and comfortably do it again I would consider it.

Found a good screen a bit west of port and shallower than last week. Predominantly a dipsy bite first and then we got the last few for the box on 8 and 10 colors. Same colors that have been good: purple, rainbow, hot blue steel, Colorado blades on the harnesses and purple and purple/mirage stix. Fish were down 40' 0ver 60 to 75 fow.

That's what I thought. Thanks!

Being as how it seems unwise and fraught with too many issues, I have decided to not attempt to find a way to put a thru hull transducer in my aluminum boat. However I'm pretty serious about being able to id bait/fish on plane so I'm looking at pairing an Airmar TM260 1kW transom mount with a HDS gen 3 display. I can get a TM260 with Navico 7 pin blue (the BL version) or with Navico 9 pin Xsonic connector (the 9N version). Which one plugs into the HDS gen 3?

Then count me in on the criticism too. Everybody I talked to on the morning of the 25th from Lockport to the Oak knew the lake was unfit for small craft. As far as I'm concerned to go out in that and risk harm to others and your family on shore was where things were really insensitive, self serving and arrogant.

I was fishing out at the Oak during this period of time and as Paul and others have said said it was common knowledge that this fisherman was proud to say they were all about taking chances. It is a simple fact that this kind of arrogance combined with the unpredictable nature of fishing on the Great Lakes breeds serious trouble very predictably.

Installed a new FH and 1st Time use yesterday had temp/speed briefly once down at 10’ FOW otherwise zip, Does this sound like a symptom of any typical install error?

Headed out of the County launch with Mickey from LOU after the first flush of fleet departed. Pretty quick we Discovered in short order that we had no temp/speed at ball or gps or kicker. Mickey turned out to be much like myself and just rolled with our situation as we kind of thrashed around trying this and that until we put together a bit of a program. Captain Ernie said it years and years ago and it’s still true “ when you can get one hot rod to go, you have you have all you need. Yesterday ours was a regular size diver on 1.5 out 250 in 250/300 fow pulling the classic Hammer Time flasher and Hammer Time fly. Just when Mickey began to revel in the thought we’d nearly boxed out on majors and were pulling lines the 400’ copper and the other diver that had been dead both fired. Being the gentleman I am I forced him into bringing in the copper fish while the diver fish made 3 screaming runs while I left it in the rigger rod holder and basically watched as line peeled off. After netting the copper king I handed him the diver rod with 500’ feet out and mumbled something feeble about needing to get fish out of the way and finish getting rods and boards pulled. I hope you had as much fun yesterday as I did Mickey, thanks for a load of laughs

I want everyone to know I’ve known these folks since I joined the forum years ago and from day 1 they have epitomized the giving spirit of LOU.

No matter how personable your Insurance company is - they are not your friend. they are in business to make the most profit possible. Unfortunately this has been a real eye opening experience. Check your coverage often and very carefully because they are not there to help you when you need it most

Had some nice Hammerhead rigs and some Grease taps both of which were productive but alas they are all history

I ordered a LGC-4000. Pretty good chance I will upgrade my electronics next year but putting in the Fishhawk and the TrollMaster is it for me for now though I did make sure I left a wire snake in the hull passage so threading a new unit wont be too big a deal. I also put in a large transducer block on the transom when I mounted the Fishhawk transducer so I've got options there too.

Yes. Niagara river/bar w/ 3 way. Fingerlakes jig w/ plastics. And whenever I get them trolling but I only smoke the FLX lakers

Get Tuna's drag washers for them too- be a huge improvement!

I have an older Lowrance global map GPS unit and I have been having an increasing number of instances in which I have no gps and get the "module not responding" prompt. Eventually it does come on but sometimes not for an hour or so. The puck is mounted on the bow of my islander. Any advice?
